oxymorphone from oxycodone

Here is the procedure
A mixture of 3.15 g (10e-2 mole) of oxycodone, 28.3 g (3.1e-1 mole) of methanesulfonic acid
and 2.2 g of DL-methionine are heated to 40° C. The reaction mixture is stirred at this
temperature for 12 hours and then poured onto ice. The mixture is made alkaline with ammonia
to a pH = 8 to 9, then extracted with dichloromethane. The organic phases are washed with
water, dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. The crude
product thus obtained (2.51 g) is purified on a column of silica by eluating with pure
chloroform followed by a gradient with methanol. 2.17 g of oxymorphone are thus obtained,
which represents a yield of 72%

i cant find the methanesulfonic acid in gr but only in liquid form,so can i use the liquid one which is pure at 99% instead of the solid one,for example if 28.3gr equal 25ml of methanesulfonic acid ?
