I thought that shovel ready infrastructure jobs were supposed to make up a big part of the stimulus. If these jobs don't happen like they were supposed to then how effective will this stimulus be at turning around the economy?

    You have two problems here:

First, you have Charles Krauthammer, who seems to think that only Charles Krauthammer can have a valid idea.

Second, this is Fox News, which has no regard for truth or integrity.

Fox isn't the only ones reporting on this.

Anyway I knew those on the right were going to jump on this so we might as well hear what they are going to be saying.

What do you expect of a President whose agenda has been constantly undermined by the entire Republican party? Before he was sworn in they were saying that they were going to make sure his policies failed. So, not only did they cause this mess, they have prevented any solutions that would help the economy recover faster.

Hasn't Obama been fairly successful with the main parts of his agenda anyway? He got the stimulus, health care reform and financial regulations passed.

There are plenty of highway projects around here that have been waiting for funding for years.

He got A health care bill, not the one he wanted and we needed, the same with everything else. The Republicans are doing everything they can to tank this nation just so the President will look bad. The party of NO says NO tax cuts for you unless our rich friends get bigger tax cuts; NO stimulus for small business unless our super rich benefactors get more stimulus.

It's time to wakeup and smell the turd in the room. The Republican party has been bought and paid for by Corporate America, that's who they work for. If the Republicans take control of Congress next month, we will slide into a depression because that will benefit the rich.

The problem is the American people do not understand politics or how it works. Is Obama perfect? No, but he is a good president. It just so happens the Republicans and the Tea Party group are a bunch of idiots. People do not realize how hard it is for a man who is not "white" and has a father who was not around in his life to survive in a government founded by white males. Not to mention to get beaten down by those who think everything he does (whether they agree or not) is communism and socialism or just plain evil. :/ If this was a white president, most likely no one would be arguing at this point. I read all the good things he did and I was pleasantly surprised no one gives a damned.

The thing is the recession would of been more stable if we allowed certain things to go through. You need to spend money in order to make a profit. They say we need to cut spending but when you ask a Republican or a Tea Party member you do not get an answer.

With jobs, you have to realize the government can only give government jobs. They can not provide jobs for everyone. That depends on the actual cooperations and who they want to hire. All the jobs are coming from construction and not everyone is in construction. Also, trying to cut taxes for small businesses and for larger businesses too can help but it is still a scare for a lot of businesses. It is up to them to decide whether they should hire or not.

But in reality a lot of people are hiring, but people are so picky in what jobs they want. It is like they are stuck in the idea they can get the ideal job. You need a college education for most ideal jobs.

lol... I think they mean fix the highways. Most of the projects are fixing older highways. I know in my area that is what they were doing.

With so much political talk taking place constantly, how can one say he has not created shovel ready jobs.
