Big Brother returns to the UK, despite assertions by the ruling coalition that sensitive personal data would not be stored without good reasons. Now the UK gov't has decided to force ISP to keep records of every phone call, email and Internet browsing by UK citizens. This mass record of every electronic communication means big brother can track your activities even better. Combined with the hundreds of thousands of cameras in the country, the UK can now track your every move. So much for the UK being a "free country" with privacy... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...l-and-website-to-be-stored-by-government.html
In light of all the public expenditure cuts i'm surprised they are stupid enough to pull this sort of thing.
The only difference between the UK and the US is probably the fact that the UK went public about their operations. The US chooses to do it behind people's backs. Still though, that sounds like a horrible place to be because of all that uh..."security".
There isn't much new here. Look at your phone bill. Your calls are already tracked. All your emails on yahoo, g-mail, etc .... they're all stored on central servers. Do you think they're not being tracked? I'm not saying this isn't something to be concerned about, but how do you have electronic mass communication without the information being stored somewhere?
The fact that it's stored at all is problem #1. If it's on a computer somewhere, then somebody can get to it. And as far as access is concerned, which is worse, the government or some temp at Yahoo?
You have choices, you can spend your time living and enjoying your life, or you can spend it worrying about who has your email address and phone number. And if you think governments are storing information in order to watch you, you might want to consider how many people, resources and money it would take to monitor all of this information. It's not possible. The people who are really abusing your private info are the internet companies like SpaceBook and MyFace. .
Yep. Facebook was funded by the CIA it's a way to check up on everyone. Don't give them a reason to check all your calls/emails.
communication is monitored everywhere, by gov;s and corps, and they can be vulnerable to security probs - so its not even who is allowed access to info. Not much can be done, I consider it the equivalent of sending mail in the 1800s, you never know if the Pony Express rider is gonna read it, drop it, deliver it, or have it stolen by Apache or the James Gang! Its always been risky to communicate lol
Karma. Sooner or later it's gonna bite the government folks right square in the ass so hard they won't be able to take a crap. It did Hitler. It did McCarthy and Nixon.
You better, but its too late anyway- they didnt start this yesterday. For them information about the people is more worth than gold or diamonds- they would never throw away stuff like that.
