Absolutely. Whether it happens in my lifetime or not, I think it'd be a good thing regardless. Though unfortuntely, it'll probably happen at a time where man has brought about his downfall, and with it, most other living creatures on this planet.

You'll notice I hope, that I did not say "our" society...I said "a" society. ;)

It's also funny how people who hate humans never volunteer to off themselves in protest...:D

This is all hypothetical anyway, nothing more disastrous than usual is going to happen in 2012 other than my daughter going through the terrible twos...

Seeing as Im neither contributing to, or condoning, the horrible things humanity is inflicting on the world, I see no reason for me to do that at all. So... terrible analogy there.. ;P

You're sitting there on a computer run by electricity, and I feel safe in assuming you are in a heated building with running water and eating food that had to be transported from from somewhere.

I also doubt you are wearing animal pelts that you killed and ate to survive...

You are doing no less than anyone else, you just feel superior because you hate humanity.

So because Im not living like a relic from the stone age, Im devestating the earth? Oh please.. and even if that were so, me killing myself is hardly going to change things, is it? Everyone would need to do that for it to do any good...

Oh right, so just because there was once a time man needed to eat and kill animals to survive, that means every animal that's brutalised nowadays is for a just reason?

Doing no less than anyone else? Yep, cos every human being on this planet is as bad as each other? Give me a break, talk about delusional...

You're the one talking about doing away with all of humanity except for you and presumably everyone that thinks like you. (Someone stop me before I break Godwin's Law.)

So tell me, I drive a little hybrid car and have nothing but cfl bulbs in my house and recycle better than 50/50 every week, do I get to stay or is it off to the lampshade factory with me? (Oh shit!)

Am I? Shows how much notice of what I said you took. (Someone should stop you...)

No, I said doing away with all of humanity, including me and everyone who thinks like me. Just because I said it would be pointless for me to kill myself, to help the situation, doesn't mean Id be against dying along with everyone else, if it prevented humanity in general from destroying the planet. Which it will end up doing, sooner or later.

Though actually, a planet full of decent people, who actually cared about it's fellow inhabitants, and weren't happy to wreak mass cruelty and destruction, without a shred of conscience or compassion, wouldn't be a bad thing. Now that you say it. Or in your eyes, would it be?

Nice attempt at sarcasm, but it doesn't work, because you didn't understand what I said at all. "Oh shit!" Indeed...

And I actually do recycle more than 50/50 as a matter of fact, and I dont drive. :p

@Deranged: I doubt a real Zombie Apocalypse would be as much fun as it's presented in video games and movies... :p

    Depends on your situation

I have a local mall already picked out and the security guards are not armed. The place is a fortress and once inside it would take an M1 Tank to penetrate those walls. There’s plenty of food, water, and three restaurants to prepare meals, and lastly most of the power in the area is nuclear so the lights won’t go out anytime soon :2thumbsup:

Oh please, humanity will not kill the earth and I am SO tired of hearing that. You think we're REALLY that significant? Pah! Hardly. No, we will definitely go extinct LONG before the earth does. You ever seen an abandoned site? If you'll notice, the earth takes over, it just grows over the things that are not so biodegradable. The earth has been adapting and will continue to do so until it gets tired of us and wipes us all out. The earth was here a LONG time before humans and will continue to be around a long time after humans. It's just sad that tigers might go before us.

Geez, how many times am I going to be misunderstood? lol You obviously misread me. What I meant was, humanity will end up destroying itself, and in the process, take some of the earth's most beautiful creatures along with us. Okay, humanity "destroying" the planet, may be a bit extreme, but it can certainly do it, and especially its inhabitants, a lot of damage. And we can see the evidence of this happening all around us today. Tigers are far from being the only species of big cat, and even animal that is close to extinction. And virtually every species that is in severe threat of becoming extinct, is in that position because of the actions (direct, and indirect) of mankind. There are already several sub-species of tiger already extinct due to man's selfishness, brutality, and greed. It seems we never learn from the mistakes of the past, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I think it is a near certainty that tigers will become extinct before man, which is a tragedy really.. :(

as that link provided by ct, some kinds of tigers are already extinct. Many animals go extinct almost every day. and it really makes me so sad. My favorite animals, the mountain gorillas, from rwanda, and uganda, have almost gone extinct, and are so close. It is really sad, no matter what animal it is, that this is occuring. and the sad fact, is most people dont care, or just dont know. I have been making my way reading about animals, kinda obsessed with them since I was a young child, and my future career willb e all about saving wildlife, so I am really disheartened, every time I hear about this. It is never shocking which is even more sad to me. : (
Now I need to make a list of organizations I am going to consider joining to help this cause. I used to be a member of the wwf, back in the day. and a few others. but I am not so on top of which ones are the best, and actually use the money for the actual animal costs, of helping save forests, and conservation issues. IF anyone has any advice on that. more than happy to look at it.
