http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...finally-discovered-evidence-psychic-phenomena I'm just gunna leave this here... lol after browsing the posts in this forum, I think this more belongs in the science forum (if there is one), but I am sure you guys will find it pretty cool too...
I've heard another one in which people's brains were scanned and they were showed emotionally charged images on a computer screen (such as a cobra striking or a baby crying) and the people's brains reacted appropriately nanoseconds before seeing the image.
Damn, oh well, I'll try to find it later maybe if I feel like it, its got to be somewhere on the internet like everything else.
My new Boss is psychic! Every time I try to sneak a cigarette, he busts me! I'm working in a building with 28 floors right now. When I try to get in the elevator he is already in it. He says "going for a smoke break, are you." Aaaaaargh! But...how.. And if I do make it down, he is there waiting on the dock to bust me. I guess it's his job to keep me from having a smoke, lol.
Lol you should try and test it out. lol just go a few times, try and take sneaky routes too, eg. take elevator down to floor 20, take stairs from 20 to 16, take elevator to b1, smoke in basement as you walk back to front entrance lol.
It doesn't matter what I do, he is always there. He is a smoker too so he knows all the spots, lol. + the stairs are locked from the inside on all the floors, all the way down. Even if I have my sig, he will bust me on the way back up. It is uncanny. I even tried to smoke in the stairway once, but someone was there. I have no luck..lol. It's a good thing he smokes as well or I may have been fired by now.
It's nice to see something scientifically definitive - and this is a pretty cool effect - tho it has been obvious to me for sometime just from everyday observations. Of course JB Rhine started doing experiments in parapsychology at Duke University way back in the 30s or so.
Yeah, if anybody else has any interesting links (on reputable sites) I would appreciate them. I always like researching the odd-er stuff.
Here's a thought...other countries such as Russia, Germany, and most probably any parts of Africa that would have functioning parts of a government - have a sort of "Fringe Science" Division. I remember reading a long time ago (when I used to keep up with interesting things such as this - lol) that Russia definitely had a "Paranormal Division" in their govt. where they would research such skills as remote viewing, time travel, etc. Imagine if you could psychically fight, too, and how much of an advantage that could give, insofar as "knowing" one's enemies planned moves.
Other countries and cultures don't hesitiate, imo, to "give credence" to supernatural and paranormal things and abilities. Don't get me wrong...I love science, too. I just think that for many things, abilities (curses? lol) we simply don't have the science, the tests to identify characteristics/skills, etc - that one day, there will be that test, that science to "back up" what we've "known".
Well, science "proving" this isn't going to change anything, except for hotline and streetcorner psychics who will be getting more money than the rest of us, in the recession no less. I've got to say: there is a big difference between magicians and psychics. Magicians manipulate and are not always correct in their predictions or what they perceive to be true. Psychics are not always right either but they do not manipulate, they simply read energy. The science/psychology article you posted is talking about a study on magicians, or just random people. And the second part of his study where they do a reverse recall with the photos, leaves 2 options for the student. Positive or Negative. That's a 50-50 chance to be correct and "predict the future". Are you freaking kidding me? I bet he's just someone trying to make money off the psychic phenomena. Because if that's all the experiment he did, he failed at proving anything.
He proved that there is a statistically significant effect of future learning on present performance. It's a tiny step forward in knowledge. That's how science proceeds - in tiny steps that eventually add up to a larger body of knowledge and theories of how the world works. Also btw, it isn't the 50/50 chance that's being measured - it's a whole lot of 50/50 chances, and the statistical probability of a significant number of these binary choices being more one way than the other compared to pure chance. It isn't earth-shaking, and this little-known experiment will probably not change anything at all, cuz hardly anybody is even aware of it. Personally I'd rather stick to my personal psychic/spiritual explorations than do experiments like this that hardly affect anything - in fact that's a choice I made years ago when I decided to blow off graduate school in a scientific discipline and pursue something more experience-based.
My life. I wanted to be a psychic/spiritual explorer, and the universe punished me by granting my wish. I'm currently writing a book about my experiences.
