Predict who the next governor of California will be... This is for those who think they might have psychic ability...
It'd be easier for me to judge if I had the answer to two questions. When is the election, and which of them, if any, supports Prop 19?
The election is Nov 2nd, and the Green Candidate supports Prop 19, not sure about the Libertarian or the Peace & Freedom candidates. Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown do not support Prop 19.
The same day as the Prop 19 vote. How convenient. "Ogden wants to cut licensensing agencies from 172 down to around 40 something. He points out California has the most licensensing (control and regulation) of any state. He would eliminate some of the 900 commissions and committees too. Ogden points out that we have 17% of the USA living here, but we have 33% of the entire welfare numbers. He calls it like he sees it, "We have too many deadbeats in the system and we're too generous." I'm going to say Jerry Brown. For a few reasons; 1) In every election, in the States and Canada, the only two people who have a real chance are the Liberals and the Conservatives (Canada) or the Republicans and the Democrats. The majority doesn't want change, they just choose between red or blue. Every time. 2) I have a feeling that Prop 19 will pass, but will be met with federal opposition, or will have something go wrong do to legal issues. The government (state and federal), for the sake of pretending they care about everyones issues, have the interest of making it appear as though they're trying to please everyone. So, I think the Prop 19 voting will go as planned but will be intervened with some how. It'll appear as though the government is trying to be liberal and concerned with "real" issues, but really they aren't. Which is why I say Jerry Brown will win the election. Think of it like sending in a bomb squad robot so as not to lose any good men. If prop 19 passes, Obama will likely call upon the DEA, ruining his approval rating and likely screwing him over for re-election in 2012. He can't have that, so how does he save his ass? Make sure Jerry Brown gets elected this November so he can be used as a sheild to take the heat when and if Prop 19 passes. Jerry Brown will oppose it if it passes that day. Therefore, the government got to make it look like they care about issues youth and "alternative" audiences care about, such as legalizing cannabis, but they don't have to actually go through with it because they make sure some patsy like Jerry Brown gets elected that day. Saving Obama's ass, saving the government from having to deal with legal weed, and keeping up the appearence that they really care about us. By the time Prop 19 passes, Jerry Brown (if he wins) will already have been elected and once he opposes it it will be too late to not vote for him and the legalization of cannabis will be stopped in its tracks. That's my prediction.
So lunarverse your prediction is based upon logic, not psychic ability... right? Fortunately the DEA has their hands full dealing with illegal grows on US gov't land, which should be their only responsibility here in California, imo. It's really hard to figure how the DEA can do more. And if Tom Ammiano's bill passes after Prop 19, it will order State & Local agencies not to cooperate with the Feds, and California employees MUST follow California law, which supercedes Federal law in their case (but not if the feds go straight to the "law breaker"). I think if that bill passes, anyone can sue California LEOs if they cooperate with the Feds. The Feds are stretched thin, and unless they want to increase their budget dramatically just to go after small timers, they won't have much of an impact. They can however make examples of people like Richard Lee and shut his grow operation down. But given that he'll have a license from the state, have paid lots of money to get it, and be an honest tax-paying biz, he'll have recourse to sue the Feds in State court I think (maybe not). So the Feds will get taken to court one way or another. And this is SUCH a state rights issue, that the outcome would be up in the air. The Supreme Court would not take lightly ruling against CA cause it would be a huge blow for states rights!
Whoever gets it will fuck it up. They always do. i nominate the "kitty" in this video for Governor of CA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZOeWFBy75A"]YouTube - Sears Optical Raccoon Commercial
I forgot about that. Yea, I suppose it's more logic than psychic, sorry about that. All in all it's a very exciting time. I would hate to have all this trouble amount to nothing in the end. It's especially exciting to watch because unlike here in Canada, US politicians actually work during the day, rather than getting together once a month to grumble and shout about issues that are so far off anyone's radar it appears as though they're taking part in a terrible improv skit.
I know nothing about this election or the people involved. The first thing that came to mind was that the first letter was "J" so I chose my answer respectively.
This is true- but despite the endless rehearsals before expensive, tax funded mirrors they can't believably act as though they really gave the slightest fuck about us. It seems that most of the contests boil down to choosing which way we wish to be financially sodomized. Will the corporate crony party take back majorities from the government expansionist party in recomposing what will be the next two year antonym to progress: congress... and the good news is in two years we get to choose a new chief marionette along with again reformulating the poison that is doing so much to help kill society and the middle class...
