Hi everyone. I live in new zealand. Im moving to a bigger city soon and i have my sister, nefew and best friend there, but i wont to find some like minded ppl, 'hippys', ppl who wont to chill, eco friendly, nonmaterialistic, groovy ppl, where can i find some? I guess ill notice ppl walking around town or in parks maybe and can just go up to them and see if they're my type of ppl, just incase looks are decieving. How else do you rekonmend?
Be cool man, Im sure you will find some like minded hippies By the way how is New Zealand? I have family from there. One place I have always wanted to go. Seems like so much unspoiled beauty.
http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=135 you never know, someone may be close by. This is a hippy website, remember!
Take a trip to takaka golden bay plenty there! Raglan if your on the north island is ok but the bay is amazing- in the town of Takaka you wil find plenty and check out tribull drums- wholemeal cafe and plenty of hippies at the muscle inn! :2thumbsup:
I always tell people "Coffee Houses, Independent Record Stores and Independent Book Stores." Peace Out, Rev J
Thanx everyone, NZ good, its suposed to be unspoiled beauty/clean green and yes there is alot but there is also citys like auckland and welly which are very loud and i wouldnt wont to live there. I watched 'old joy' movie with views of oregon and i thought 'i wont to go there!' huge mountains! Though i havnt really been to many mountains here. I wonder if ill meet hippys when i stay at holiday camp sites..
Real hippies put their children in a real hippie school.....a waldorf school...YOU have one in christchurch...i am not saying go hang out at a kiddie school...no.....find out when they are having an event and just go attend...this is the link http://www.ch.steiner.school.nz/
to meet some more hippies i would recommend going to festivals and shows...thats where i meet most of the people that inspire me:sunny:
everyone here have given you very good suggestions so far.:cheers2: here is my suggestion. i would say don't just limit yourself to "hippie" friends. i say broaden your scope for friends. there is a whole fucking counter culture out in the world. hippies are just one fraction of the counter culture. other sub-socities in the counter culture (emos, goths, punks, and so forth) might just turn out, to be friends you just have not ment yet.
If you live in AZ, visit Prescott College. There's a whole lot of hippies. There's even this info shop called the Catalyst nearby that got raided by the FBI. This guy, Bill, got put in prison and was suspected of blowing up an animal testing lab. He ended up killing himself with a plastic bag, a method taught by the local Hemlock society. I met him once. I thought he was pretty cool. It sucks he died. The town's mostly conservative, and I'm sure there's other areas with more hippie enclaves. In fact the conservatives encroached on the McCormick district, a pretty small street with all the hippie stuff, by opening up a restaurant called Porky's where a vegetarian restaurant formerly was, and he bought one of the houses formerly occupied by hippies and advertises Tea Party shit in the window. Actually, its pretty bad now come to think of it. They have some art shops still open though. I think the Catalyst moved closer to the Prescott college actually. They might move back, You might be better off in Flagstaff actually. They used to have a hookah shop there too until they had to shut down because of the smoking ban. Its really lame. I think it would be cool if someone opened up a smart shop or something.
Thanx for all the sugestions. I like head shops though sometimes bit dodge hanging around with no money lol waldorf school event would be interesting, never thought of that, iv just learnt about them and definatly wont my future children to go 2 1!! And yea i so wont to go to some festivals! Stil havnt been to j day, didn't have someone to go with, though of course how wil i make friends if i dont put myself out there, i can be shy.
Googlemap vegetarian resteraunts, book events, and smoke shops. Any place that has a lot of all three is probably a hippie neighborhood. (lol)
