What if the entire earth was intoxicated with psychedelics, say if a massive amount of lsd got into the water supply. What chaos would ensue?
I suppose it depends. Would this be an FDA approved event such as in the case of fluoride and lithium? Or a freak accident?
Well: Mindless people will avoid it and dehydrate and die. Others will not like it but will try to survive. Some people will binge. Driving will be a bitch Constant cleaning bc some people will get nauseous and puke. Lots of people will live happier. in the end it would have killed some extremist bigots.Woohoo.
Something like this is actually supposed to have happened in a village in France back in the 1800's(not sure if my facts are right as far as the where and when), and there were some bad results, such as murders and suicides because the people thought they were possessed by the devil, others just went insane. I'm not sure if anyone enjoyed it, probably because they had no concept of tripp'in back in those days.
Really? I was under the impression that in a real life scenario people might become more docile. Or if they were freaking out they would keep it to themselves and isolate themselves, I guess I was completely wrong.
considering the fact the Earth is or rather you are under the earths atmospheric pressure, which varies from different altitudes and weather phenomenons .. Living breathing beings like yourself are sustained in life due to gasses in the atmosphere .. remove or change them gasses as in a biosphere - submarine its occupants will all get the same effect.. Theoretically if there is breathable air on Mars, it may effect human consciousness differently than the breathable air here on earth. which seems to have a stupidity effect on most its inhabitants..
I think the people in this village were affected by ergot as a result of a blunder by the local baker, and ergot is supposed to cause severe hallucinations and is described to be unpleasant at the very least. But in a different time period, with a different hallucnagenic substance(something more pleasant than ergot) you might be right, people might become more docile and actually have fun with it. Me personally, I think you would get a 50/50 kinda result from people today, no matter the substance, half having a great time and the other half really pissed off that they got dosed without their consent.
Personally i think it would be awesome if i knew what was happening, i would be filling every container i could find with water and enjoying life while i still could. However if you woke up and lets say made coffee with tap water un-aware that there was LSD in it and an hour later started tripping face and you didn't know why.... well that sounds un pleasant.
