Today you get your chance to cast your vote...amongst all the others. I sent my ballot in weeks ago, and will not spend the next 24 hours obsessing over the polls, prognostications, astrological predictions, etc. But I am interested to see what direction to go next in life.

From the great big world out there that is not holding its breath to see if Prop 19 passes, there is this advice from the Guardian Newspapers in Britain:

You can read more of their hilarious take on the US Mid-term elections here.

This is a very, very important election. Come on you burnouts, liberals and stoners, as well as humanists and people who give a damn! Get off your butts and vote. If my husband and i did it you can too. Hell, vote early, vote often!

Thanks Spicey Cat! Glad you voted...

I wish more folks would get up and vote.

Those who do not vote, like Meg Whitman, often end up running our lives because of sheer apathy and/or the idiotic thought that 'my one vote can't possibly make a difference.'

The lines are short because of light turnout, and many places have no lines at all. So there is little excuse for not voting today.

I have really mixed opinions with prop 19. I know that they won't be able to yet (they have to obey federal laws, not state laws), but I don't like the idea of big tobacco mass producing weed and inevitably ruining it. On the other hand, I really want people to see that when a drug gets legalized, it only creates a very short increase in use among individuals, then as time goes on, less people use it then they did before it was made legal. The fact that something is "bad" or illegal really seems to drive the masses into doing it. Hopefully the entire world will see the positive benefits of prop 19, and not only reconsider cannabis laws, but laws on all substances. IMO, if somebody wants to shoot heroin, let them, but inform them of the REAL possible dangers (involved with any substance, not the made up dangers they always seem to provide) and if they are blasting off in a park, causing a ugly scene, take them to jail/fine them, just like you do with the drunks.

Needless to say, I decided to vote yes on prop 19, and Meg CAN NOT be governor...

They only have to obey the drug control act if it's actually enforced. Obama already told the DA officers to lay off the states.

I can't find my voters registration card or my licence so I can't vote. I keep trying to justify it by telling myself that since I live in a strictly red state, my vote won't count anyways. I was planning on doing write ins only in protest of our two party system. But oh well...

thats bullshit...not what you said, but the fact that california would be expected to obey federal laws. This country was built on the idea of states' rights, something the federal government has completely forgotten about in the last several years. That shit pisses me off so bad.

I read an article in the news a couple of weeks ago about a statement the federal government released stating that federal law would supercede state law. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, considering Obama stopped the federal government from raiding medical dispenseries.
