Playing Guitar Stoned

This is a poll for all the guitarists. Hell, even if you play another instrument join in and vote too.... Unless your a bassist, then you can go stand in the corner...

Nah I'm kidding, bass is honestly more important than a second guitarist in some circumstances.

But seriously who here loves playing guitar while stoned? I used to up until yesterday.

I made a drum track that was about 40 seconds and I was gonna write something to it so I can save those riffs for later. It was an insane drumtrack (I'll post the riffs later) and I was really proud.

So I think to myself "I'm gonna go out back and get stoned so I can come back in all ripped and jam this shit".

When I came back in I was ripped as fuck, it was one of those cloudy headed highs where you're fucked up but it's awesome because you're so stoned.

Anyway, I sit down to play and the guitar feels all different. My hands were shaky and weren't stretching as much as normal. I was playing the first riff (it's really hard but I can play it no problem when I'm sober) and I just couldn't do it. Like it's a 3 string riff and I kept pulling off onto the wrong strings or some dumb shit.

I basically just sat there jamming and making up sweeps for the rest of the jam session. I felt like I wasted all that time.... Now I'm gonna go play sometime today (whenever I feel like it) And I'll record those tracks.

I've never played live stoned and I sure as hell won't after this happening. I don't think I could play if I wasn't sober. Coke would be the only thing I could play on but I wouldn't start doing that before shows because I'd obviously just get addicted.

guitar is alot funner when youre high, but you better have your shit down before you play anything high haha, we always warm up and shit sober and end up smoking after the first couple songs we jam just to get into the groove

 

i like to do pretty much everything while "stoned"

 

Yeah.. I pretty much play like shit when I'm high.. It's fun when you're just chilling alone jamming, but I smoked once before going on stage, and I'll never do it again.

Dont make much odds playing stoned although learning new stuff can be harder but do find the creative side is better even though its hard to remember what ya've just played sometimes lol

idk how to answer this really,... see sometimes I need the drugs to open up my Arthritis.. /My hands feel tight, not flowing.. Sometimes cannabis helps this alot..

Then too, there is some Cannabis strains I smoke that dont do anything at all but reinforce the fact I want to get high or Im not getting high- this is usually a Sativa strain /and I get heady not muscle relaxation and Sativa strains just make me wanna smoke, the speedy high throws off my playing and Im distracted ../

This past weekend though performed while on shroom, oxycottin, atavan and cannabis.. And probably played and sung better than I would normally do. I felt like I had a mission to accomplish, and there was much work involved..

the following days, I had recovery feelings and feelings of detachments, day dreaming this was something i could be doing all the time. But have things I have to do, I can not just drop everything in my life to be a musician full time. besides there isnt a location for it like that. And I want to get high or assure myself we can get high have our supply too. Its not like we can walk up to a dispensary and buy our cannabis. And dont have a manager with blank checks that can buy anything we need either.

I also like to play on my time, not some scheduled slot over and over.. I can not turn something I love into a job, in the way cannabis has become due to our evil location in the state of Pennsylvania..

Finally we can not be totally open about our performances or where they are located, due to some ass clowns laws and the legality of cannabis.. Therefore we can not be famous like the dick snooping dogg from California..'

Hell ya I like playing guitar while stoned! Now if the question was: Do you play guitar better while stoned?, I'd probably say no. I get a little lazy at times when I'm high and playing fast shit.

I suck at Rock Band when I'm really stoned, but am better when a little stoned.

I don't play real guitar, but I am better at, and love, piano/keyboard when intoxicated.

 

I play bass. But people hear me. I love to play music like Rancid or NOFX, some bands have some pretty awesome stuff..

But I do like it while I'm stoned, I can get pretty into it. Or just be lazy and not want to do it; it really depends on the buds

 

Just got done playing some High-pitched mandolin.
Mostly Garcia & Grisman tunes.

I only play when I'm high. Thats probably why I can only remember 1/10 of all the songs I've ever learned.

 

I don't really 'play' guitar, ive been 'learning' since january but I still just play chords and the Gmaj scale. but yea, its fun high.

 

ive been playing for about 5 years but i like playing the slower heavy shit personally, so i dont really play fast unless i have to learn it in a song or if i decide to play a fast part..

Personally, I can go both ways playing stoned, depending on strain and how I'm feeling.
Sometimes being stoned can help improve my creativity when just messing around, other times I just can't play simple things for some reason.

I do however find that, when I do get guitar-clumsy high and actually go through something slowly and learn how to do it in that stony mode that whatever it was that I was playing is easier sober than it was previously.

But, to answer the poll question, yes I enjoy guitar stoned. Still have to try playing the violin stoned.. can't say that the baritone stoned was any high point of my life.

 

Love the guitar, sober or stoned, its best to master songs in both mindphases.

Most of my song ideas hae origonated from stoned jamming, i just go over and over them again until a direction emerges, when on psychedelics you can start to notice musical fractals and passasgeways you want to explore but that ultimately distract you. but sometimes it best to not overthink it. Trust you fingers

I have to write them properly sober tho because guitar pro/reason etc are way too frustrating to do stoned.

 

i usually just get reeeeeeally fucked up and record something and go back and figure out how i was doing it lol. atleast thats how all of our best stuff has come about
