I think i may be an idiot....i can't figure out how to properly tie off the end of my hemp necklaces and bracelets with a bead. If anyone can suggest any ways, or any good websites on making hemp necklaces.....? Thanx
try using a button!!.. the kind with four holes in em... thats what i do... just take your 3 (or however many) strings you have, feed them through the four holes, and tie knot!... but for this to work you gotta have a loop at the top! :-D hope this helps... and you ARENT an idiot.. it took me FOREVER to figure out how to end my necklaces and stuff... i have SO MANY unfinished hemp stuff... they end up being keychains!
Hey! when i make hemp bracelets. i usually do so that i put all strings through that bead, and then tie a knot. you havent tried that? im ABSOLUTELY NOT saying that you're an idiot or something, im just curious! so dont bite my head off if i write something that offends you.
Hmmm, this is good to know. I always leave loose strings just for the person to tie in a knot... but I think the button or the bead would be more attractive... less itchy. Thanks brothers and sisters!
when you start your braclet or necklace, put a bead inthe middle of your two starting strings and then tie a knot under it so you're working with 4. understand? I hope so. Then at the end of your piece, use 1 string to wrap around the others until you have a long enough thread to loop, tie a knot and you have a perfect loop to put the bead on the other end into to fasten. It works as a great ending knot and a great way to fasten your jewlery.
that's what i would usually do, but the holes in the beads i have are too small to fit 4 pieces of thick hemp through it...that's why i'm stuck. Thanx for all your ideas though
well..i would suggest getting some bigger beads then..i like to use wooden ones...i usually always do a bead and a loop on the other end..
you can buy REALLY f(p)hat beads at walmart or ANY fabric store for pretty cheap, big enough ones to fit the hemp through
