I've got a huge matt as the base of my dreads in the roots, about 1/4 of my hair. I don't want this to turn into a huge dread, cause that's just not my thing. will it naturally grow into the dreads it was sectioned to be? or do I have to do something about it? I understand some people believe I should "embrace" this but I don't want to hear opinions other than what I can expect or do about this. thanks
you have to rip it from the root to the end, putting your fingers close to your scalp and ripping down
Wowza, nobody has said "Don't touch your dreads or you're doing it wrong" yet. Rip it up from the root! Just go for it, if it won't rip very cleanly just dig your fingers in there and rip smaller bits one at a time, shouldn't be too much of an ordeal.
bad idea to cut, easy to make mistakes and you lose a lot more hair that way, just rip, it's time consuming but not difficult, you cant really mess it up either, i usually do it at the cinema, fiddle away with my hair while watching a movie
1/4 of an inch is nothing. RIP! If I have trouble ripping cross-hairs I use scissors to cut them- only a couple of strands at a time, just to weaken the.. join.. then I rip.
