I stated a fact. There are rinses for lice on this site. Not a racist. Just anti stupid people. I think if I were in anyway racist against white people my husband would have an issue with it considering he is white. And I love being black. Rich history, instances of overcoming deep adversity, beautiful culture...I could go on. All people are amazing in their own way. Except for the stupid. Listening to someone with no children (and likely no experience with children) isn't smart.
It's a slur. Same as the other n word. It'd be nice if no one overall used them to be honest, but at least being black and saying nappy won't get you yelled at or worse. Both just have really negative connotations.
The only reason a word is offensive is if you are personally offended by it. You'd think maybe some people respect themselves enough not to get upset about simple words, especially not enough to try to restrict others' freedom of speech.
I think that if someone says it, especially in a hateful manner, I pity their ignorance and keep it moving. I also think that not everyone feels that way and that knowledge is power. Obviously I can't make them stop using it but if they use it in public and invoke a negative response from someone they can't very well say they had no idea what was coming down the pipe now can they?
I have to say I had no clue it was a negtive word. I grew up around a lot of black people, i went to a school where i was one of the only white people, and almost all of my best friends were black (even after i changed schools). Its no longer that way because i now live in an area with very few black people but my little nephue is black (though he has no say over this word concerding he can not talk). I never herd it used in a bad way, it was always used in a joking way or in a cute way. Like boy your so nappy then giggles or aww look at her nappy hair its so cute while talking about a baby. I now use it when talking to or about my oldest daughter. When she was born she had thick stright black hair, then she went bald and in grew this big blonde afro. Her hair looked and felt like my nephues hair does. It grew out and fell and now no matter how short she cuts it she cant get the afro back. BUt i still call her nappy, ill annoy her one day with it, another day its in a loving way. Kinda like an annoying knick name that you pray your mom does not call you around your friends. maybe it was just diffrent around the bay.
(I will be condemned for this post. meh. ) So you can say nappy, but I can't say nappy? Interesting that you said one thing you consider a slur, but not another? I'll say ******, because all the niggers here call themselves niggers. "taking back" things you find offensive is a logical failure. A very large portion of young black people are suffering from cultural vomit BW's generation is spewing, while they try to claim responsibility for the rich culture that existed before that. Nope, you shat all over that, I'm sorry. Many black people my age believe that by bumpin' soulja boy and knowing 5 words of their first language (and pronouncing them wrong on purpose) they are upholding and displaying some rich culture. The culture BW's generation was too busy getting their panties in a twist about people saying nappy to teach their children. I have great respect for the people who instigated the civil rights movement. Unfortionatly their offspring threw it all away and destroyed their culture, and did their best to rape any sense of respect for that culture that modern young people might have felt.
No one was talking about a hateful anything. The post you are quoting was responding to you saying "5. Since you used the word "nappy" I'm going to assume you're at least partially African American. If you're not, stop using that word. ". No one was negative, until you.
I agree with that fully, Im not black but i almost felt offended after reading that. Thats saying a lot because unless im having an off day i dont even come close to being offended by anything ever.
There are serious cultural problems in america today, and one of them is a sense of specialness that had been imparted to black people. In BW's own(syntax modified to fit) words, a "chip on their shoulders". She's showing this now, throwing one of her famous bitch fits because someone of unidentified race said "nappy", of all fucking things. Glossing over problems is not respectful. There is no physical reason for black people to have these problems, they are fixable. It would be disrespectful for me to pretend that everything is just fine, when there has been a clear cultural decline, to the point of people thinking that it's ok for one race to use words and not another. Note that I'm not saying anything about other cultures. Mexican american culture is the only major demographic that I see improiving, as opposed to going the way of BW, on the whole in the US. Of course, there are outliers, as most of the people on this site are. Except BW, clearly.
I definitely said that it'd be nice if NO ONE said it. Try reading everything. You can't take back a word it either has negative connotations or it doesn't. The reason I worded number 5 the way I did is because although no one should really be using it, at least saying it while black doesn't run the risk of you getting yourself yelled at or worse. But as usual your 19 years on the earth and your special ability to be "tuned in" has given you knowledge that no one else is aware. Way to show your true colors though. It's about time.
I said I stated A fact cupcake. (Although Roor is proving my point quite nicely.) Reading. It's not a bad thing.
Monkey we are coming from totally different places. I was raised primarily in the South. The Bay is a whole 'nother world.
Ok I get it now: lice is treatable... and everything else you said is a load of incorrect, judgmental, ignorant, bullshit. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding you correctly, thanks for the clarification.
Your opinion. Again Roor is proving my point nicely though. There's a reason this forum is the way it is.
Yeah, there's a reason that no one respects you or values your opinions. Because you pull them strait out of your ass. It's interesting that some number (that seems) well above half of your posts critical of me point to my age, with some unfounded statement about it and it's meaning.
This is very true, I moved to missouri and in my area almost anything said about a race other then white is not a good thing. Im not sure missouri counts as the south, and im not sure if anyone knows for sure everyone i know has something diffrent to say on the matter. Its bad here. I tend to stick to my bay ways they are much more kind.
When you've got no intelligent points to your argument, you've got a few options. There is always the race card (which gets put to use quite a bit it would seem) and of course repeating the number '19' always works. So worry not everyone, as long as these concepts are in play this argument could go on for ages.
