Haven't taken a train in ages but my friend was mentioning to me they do random baggage checks and such. How thorough are they? Are we talking $8/hr rent-a-cop searching or are we talking well trained TSA agents searching? Do they use x-ray machines and all? And just how often do they check folks? Just checkin' :cheers2:
Ive taken amtrak 3 times in the past 2 years and not once have they checked my bags. I would still be somewhat cautious but like I said I've never been checked nor have I even seen them have any sort of x-ray machines. My last trip was in March of this year.
:2thumbsup: Thanks, I hate it when folks say things like my friend did to get me unnecessarily nervous and unsettled.
I dont know anything per se in regards to your question.... but i dont think you'll face anything too extreme. Honestly. I just wanted to say that I think Amtrak is screwed up when they will allow you to bring a gun on board but not a dog. This country is nuts
Well Guns don't drop piles of shit in the middle of the aisle, Guns dont piss in corners etc. Guns don't bark endlessly at shadows Aaaaaaand,,, Guns dont fill diapers with green slime that stinks worse than death, but they still let babies on the train too. Nor are Guns burdened with the need to shower regularly hence they only smell like Gunpowder and cleaning oil, and only after recent use. More than can be said for many of the passengers on the Train I took. There's a long list of things I'd worry more about on a train than someone having a gun on them. And P.S. it was a smooth ride.
Hey. Is anyone willing to let us couch surf? We are a 25 year old Leo/Sagittarius couple from Los Angeles, CA.. Very open minded and fun, vegetarian, would love to make some new friends in Washington! We are leaving on December 2nd on the greyhound bus. Message us, thanks!! -Bee & Charlie
Pretty sure someone would somewhere,,, http://www.couchsurfing.org/ Seems to be a pretty cool site but it's a grab bag and to be done at ones own risk. Had a number of folks show up at the hostel I worked at out in tecopa who led me to that site, said they had all had mostly positive experiences through it.
