MSNBC has suspended Keith Olbermann indefinitely without pay! They say it's because he donated to political campaigns of three democrats without reporting his donations to NBC corporate.

Since when do people need to tell corporations who they are voting for (or donating to?). This seems to be an invasion of privacy and unjust policy on the part of NBC.

Keith is one of the most liberal newscasters in America and he will be missed by many.

Keith did not publicly endorse any of the candidates whose campaigns he donated to.

Sorry about that. I'd pasted the wrong link at first, then replaced it, but the underlying url doesn't change after the text is edited.

    It's a bug...

The link should work fine now.

It would be sad to see Keith go, esp. if he doesn't get another show.

Is this part of a MEDIA PURGE?

Let's see if more heads roll as a result of these elections...

Is there any rationale for such a response.. or even a requirement that ones contributions be reported to an employer as a condition of continued employment. Granted, MSNBC might want to preserve some illusion of political impartiality- but it strikes me that a measure of this nature would pretty much throw that illusion out the window. I partake in some guilty comedy en route to work each afternoon by listening to that affable caricature of right-wing extremism, Rush Limbaugh and it strikes me that there are those who've induced a state of con-servitude- the exact sub-species that bestow mega-dittos before delivering the sobering reminder that people who believe as they do, despite being free from the burdensome baggage of common sense and intelligence, sit on juries and vote.

It would take a minimum of persuasion on the part of Loonbaugh to whip his minions into an angry froth at the audacious, obscene, offensive... brazen move on the part of the "liberal media" in not only "distorting facts" but bankrolling the campaigns of "big government loving socialists". Oh one can easily imagine how the skillfully radio's maestro of malice orchestrates the hatred and distrust to perhaps inspire calls for the revoking of their broadcast license... It would be a shame if one must fashion employee policy with regard to candidate support based on the rantings of such a crackpot.

I am left to wonder just what criteria MSNBC uses to render its approval of a proposed political donation not to mention just how intrusive into an employee's politics is appropriate for an employer when one's income hangs in the balance. Is this a proverbial foot in the door to a path that eventually has companies forcing their employees to disclose whom they are voting for to ensure that management's favorites get endorsed... perhaps signing pre-employment pledges to vote along certain party lines as a condition of employment.

I hate seeing Olbermann suspended but am more concerned with what the action says about our so-called voting rights.

Of far more concern should be the influence of corporate money upon the political bias of the media.

This is a distraction from the truth.

I think Keith has been on the Repub hit list for a while now. Now they feel empowered to remove him. No doubt with threats to NBC, and they preferred to cave in.

This is JUST A TASTE OF WHAT IS TO COME!

Just like the purge of the BBC, but it's going to hit liberal media.

You're either on the talking points or you're finished...

    Now I'm starting to wonder...

Rick Sanchez, Christiane Amanpour and other INDEPENDENT voices are being silenced and removed from MSM right now!

And they're going for really bogus reasons too...

Even Conan O'Brian who was silenced for this entire election!

    OK, check this out!

Sanchez spoke to the Hispanic Community...

Amanpour spoke to the Middle Eastern Community...

Keith spoke to the Liberal Community...

Conan spoke to the hip urban Community...

One by one, independent minded voices from the WIDER community are being silenced...

The evidence is right in front of us.

    Can this really be happening?

It means we are going to war again.

More Journalists, YES REAL JOURNALISTS, gone!

    Helen Thomas

    Octavia Nasr

    Juan Williams

    Who's Next?

Oh, let's not forget Julian Assange of WikiLeaks! There's a world wide manhunt out for him, no?

    They've gone TOO FAR NOW!

These people need to start their OWN NEWS network.

I think I've gotten a bit used to the concept that the news media cannot be relied on for unbiased and balanced news coverage... and do you think the FCC would issue a broadcast license to them if they were to propose starting their own news network? A war with whom? Iran? It wouldn't surprise me much... maybe our creditors in the RoC will call some debt in the form of mercenary services by the U.S. military?

Iran and Syria would be the first targets.

But really the Media has been a target since 9/11.

    It feels like that again.

Got to be a patriot, toe the line, repeat talking points.

Didn't the Media harmonize well with the refrain:
The Republicans are going to take over everything this election...

That is their true wish and they are enabling it. So there will be only ONE message that Americans hear so they continue to support existing wars while they start a NEW ONE.

This new 900 BILLION from the FED is going where?

Let's see the Fed lends the money to the treasury, the treasury will spend it on WAR folks!

This is why ppl are being silenced.

Anyone who might speak out against the upcoming war, and report the truth, esp. Christiane Amanpour and Nasr.

They know the next war will be a hard sell. That's why they spend BILLIONS getting more of their minions in office.

    It's all making sense now.

Tea Party to spread the Fear, sorta like Brown shirts....the violence hasn't started yet thankfully, but the hatred and bigotry is there, ready to catch fire on cue.

NBC's rule seems reasonable for journalists, but not for commentators. Nobody expects Keith Olbermann to be unbiased and neutral. That isn't his job.

Good riddance. But msnbc will probably replace him with another establishment drone, sadly. But hopefully the next one they hire won't be a screaming white man like him.

There was a time when I enjoyed olbermann's poetic social commentary but I felt he lapsed into dishonesty and sensationalism when he didn't have Bush Cheney to focus on. As counterweight to o'rielly, He is the same mouth with a different head

Don't celebrate just yet. There's a good chance he will return.

Please convince Fox News of this. All of their "news" is also commentary.

I cannot accept the premise that Faux Nooze is at all interested in actually being informative... much less being willing to entertain suggestions from the herd they are seeking to manipulate.

maybe Olbie can go back ESPN and do sports, where everyone learned how good of a broadcaster he was as he used sports as a platform for his sarcastic wit and political commentary!

Apparently I'm correct. This is a purge and we are going to war. See my new article on the US ready for war with Iran.

Olbermann won't be coming back, and the networks are now in War Spin mode.

Just watch as the MSM talks Americans into going to war YET AGAIN!

That is what all this money from the Fed is all about.

No other entity will again lend the US money to go to war so we must print our own.

This spells the end of America (if not life) as we know it...

I guess the election ended up being a MANDATE FOR WAR, but nobody told us that!
