Just started listening to him! His guitar speaks to me. I really feel his sound, not to mention his technique.
Who else knows him? (I'm hoping there is SOME other enthusiast here!)
    Know anyone else like him?

his music is amazing, his guitar playing made the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stand up with sheer emotion. i remember him from years back when i was a kid, had forgotten about him until you just jogged my memory.
will be good to listen to him again and see if the same thing happens as i'm sure it will.
needle of death i remember well, and angie.
can see a youtube session coming up. :)

Bert Jansch is a pretty amazing musician and songwriter. His earlier releases showcase some amazing examples of the unique guitar-based music the underground folk scene of the 60's had to offer. Later in the 70s is when I think he really blossomed into an incredible songwriter and arranger. Albums like Moonshine and Rosemary Lane (the title songs of those are good exampes too!) really blow me away with how magically he crafts word to sound. He still creates great stuff to this day.

Discovering Bert Jansch a while back also led me to discover some of my other favorite folk musicians and groups like Anne Briggs, John Renbourne, Pentangle, Davy Graham, Shirley Collins and the like.

One of the first albums I'd ever gotten by Jansch was "Bert and John" that he did with John Renbourne when they were both very early in their careers (and living as flatmates I believe) really messy creative guitar playing--wonderful stuff.

My favorite album by him is the Ornament Tree perhaps.

Bert and John is one of my favourite folk guitar albums. Same with early Pentangle of course which is also with Bert and John on guitars and Davey Graham. I'd also check out John Renbourns albums if I were you. And perhaps someone like Richard Thompson!

John Renbourn's "The Lady and The Unicorn" is a classic, though he's made many classic folk albums.

Roy Harper has a similar vibe to Jansch, though later on he stretched out into rock music, you may also like him.

Love Black Swan which I think is his latest album -Theres a version of Katie Cruel with Beth Orton singing that is just great-check it ouy on Youtube its with another Orton song so its easy to miss worth it though. He's Neil Youngs favorite guitarist he said he was the Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar. I love him saw him play with Pentangle I've yet to see him solo-soon I hope.
