Might as well go with the flow, I've never tried doing anything to cure mine. Although yours is stronger, I think.
That's because you have Asperger's Syndrome. No, really. That's what I deal with all the time with my son.
My ocd isn't about that. It's about everything. If I get an intrusive thought while i'm doing anything I have to do it again. So my actions aren't saturated with my thoughts. It's really fucked up and illogical but I can't help but do it anyways.
Every time I feel obsessive-compulsive I'm just going to say to myself "David, don't be a 'tard" and then just carry on normally. That'll work, right?
you gotta check if the door is locked 5 times or something like that? grab a notepad put in your pocket. when you lock the door look it and make sure it's locked. then write down on the notepad that you locked that door. you cannot doubt that you did it because you wrote down that you did. hand washing - I used to have this one too. basically the only way to get over this kind of OCD is to fight it. carry around a hand sanitizer if you have to but be very reasonable. washing your hand before you eat or after the bathroom or if you put you hand in bird shit or something like that is fine. but if you worry about door handles and railings and mud and all sorts of other things like that your just gonna have to get over it. even if it feels weird to do so just make your constant thought that you will be fine rather than you won't be fine and even if that thought keeps coming just keep telling yourself you will be fine and slowly it will become easier. over time I completely overcame this one. I have even dropped a hamburger on the ground and picked it up and continued eating it! if you really wanna be crazy and fight it, go to the park stick you hand into the sand then go eat and sandwich without washing your hands. remember as much as it bugs you it's all irrational. you will be fine and if you think you will not give a detailed post exactly why you think something bad is going to happen. buy a wallet with a chain or a strap or something and then if you wallet slips out you will suddenly feel it dangling. your money will not fall out because it's secured in the wallet. Oh and you might think this is crazy but trust me it will help a lot. Don't masturbate for a long time or look at porno and try your best not to tempt yourself by thinking naughty thought. I have found that if you keep a strong tosterone level that it makes it a lot easier to not let stuff bug you. don't believe me? go 30 days with no porno/masturbating and report back here. weed can be bad sometimes. It's a fact that weed can make your short term memory not as good. Having a great short term memory really helps when it comes to OCD. So keep that in mind. I also recommend you go running 3 times a week. Running helps because it increases mental focus and also releases natural endorphins in the body. So when you are tripping about something OCD wise you will find yourself a lot more calm and relaxed. some people like doing yardwork or have other hobbies for this very reason as they prefer it to running. find the physical focus activity that you prefer.
I am an OCD survivor. I spent most of my life living with horrible ocd. I experienced the rituals and everything. I fought it tooth and nail and finally overcame it. worst part of my life. also the darkest. Trust me. I know what it's like. Every have to check 20 times just to make sure a lightbulb is actually off? yeah. that was my world. message me if you want my take.
you are only 20 though? you can't say OCD if for life unless your some old grandma who has had it her whole life. I have OCD too and I am 20 also. I had very very mild OCD as a child but it become a real problem once I was 17 and once I was 18 it got even worse. Then slowly I started meditating and trying my best to cure myself. Well I am not cured but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. and as you stated earlier it goes through phases. like I'll have this OCD then get over it and then suddenly get a new one. so I can see why you think it's for life. but I stay positive and tell myself that eventually it will go away. remember always stay positive and hope for the best. and just so you know. I had VERY VERY BAD OCD when I was 18. It also caused me to get a very bad anger problem too. I am SO HAPPY that it's not bad like that anymore. I have completely overcame my anger problem too.
Masturbating increases the amount of testosterone you have, dude. And it's been proven to help stress.
I tried that yesterday, didn't work. Though my name's not David.. I then put on my mother's lingerie and played Halo.
I usually find that it works quite well, except in situations where you are within earshot of someone who is named David. Then you get all sorts of scowls.
Masturbating also thins out the hair on your head, and puts it on your chest.. and other places you dont want it, like the palm your hand... :leaving:
Yep- much of the time. This is why I eat the way I do and exercise. Let the medical establishment have me when I hit 90 and am used up as they seem quite adept at managing declines.
Force yourself to live through the agony of not doing it. Try meditating and doing whatever it takes to get your mind off of it. As far as I understand OCD is like an addictive behavior. The more you do it... the more times you give in and check to see if the door is locked, the harder it is to overcome. So that means the more times you break out of it and stop doing it, the easier it becomes. But I think you might need professional help too. I'm not an expert. :afro:
