As an old line liberal I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the latest satistics that 72 percent of black kids are being born into a single parent household - no father in the upbringing equation. That is truly sad. No male model for the kids at home. What kind of society is being created? Is the idea of 2 parents - male and unmale - passe? Or are the kids simple being raised with a male model who is a bad ass, or drug dealer, or prison inmate. It seems to me that this is not a good situation - children are being cheated deprived of one of the greatest experiences of their existence - a mom and dad to love and look up to. So sad and so unfair. Is there an answer. What kind of future is being laid out for kids and society in general? Or - does it really matter at all. At this point in time I am so confused.
I just had a baby a while ago, hes adorable.. We don't have plans to get married though. She was horrible when she was pregnant, (some people might remember I posted about how she didn't want me to see the kid cuz I was horrible) I was in the hospital with her the hole time, great expierence. She apologized for being ridiculous. Babys are truly life changing. Quit doing heroin and everything else. Hes my motivation.. Maybe one day we will get married now that I've changed?
It's not as high a percentage in the UK, but still much higher than for white boys. Black babies are more likely to live in poverty, and have less chance of a job, good home etc.
Here's the way I look at it. The parents don't have to be married to both be in a childs life. I had an adult friend growing up who had 2 kids with his girlfriend and they got married when the oldest one was headed off to college. I agree that it is pretty shitty when the father is spreading his seed far and wide then leaving as soon as the deed is done. All of a sudden I have the beginning of Idiocracy running through my head. People should step up and take responsibility for their actions but our society has restructured itself where people won't. I work with payroll.... It is not unusual for a black employee to have several child garnishments with different mothers. You would think that for purely financial reasons, they would learn to wear a condom or get a vasectomy.
That is indeed the fact of the matter. I do not believe - refuse to believe that as white anglo-saxons we are somehow superior as a race regardingto anyone else. Buy this as you will, but we are all made in the image of "God". Some are not, by the luck of birth, Eloi while others are morelocks. Obviously there will be families with no male actively involved and the family functions - but I know in my heart that a large percentage of the 72% are absentee fathers and a lesson is taught to the child. I just don't know what the lesson is.
The fact of the matter is I have a cousin who is poor white trash and he has 5 different kids with 5 different women. Where I went to college I knew other poor white trash men with 5 kids by 5 different women all within months of each other. Not only are the people I'm talking about poor but also unintelligent. To me that is the more important thing to worry about. Oh and according to the teabaggers if we give kids condoms it is giving them a licence to have sex. Well shit howdy kids are driving weather they have the licence or not. We are also hanging alot of responsibility on the men in this situation. Where the fuck are the womens heads at in this situation. All of a sudden girlfriend one shows up in front of girlfriend two's trailer wanting to kick her ass because her white trash cracker boyfriend who can't keep his dick in his pants, won't wear a rubber, and can't figure out witch white trash trailer skank he's boning is on the pill. It's like the Jerry Springer show happening on the front lawn. This isn't a black and white issue. This is a Ghetto Issue. There are black ghettos and white ghettos. And this is some straight up ghetto ass shit. Then when it does happen Maury Povich shows up to give away free DNA tests and puts the results on with the most ghetto ass people and the most white trash cracker motherfuckers that he can find for your entertainment. Even if Springer and Povich didn't show up then this shit would still happen just nobody would fucking care. At this point, someone should mention the fact that women are 100% responsible for choosing who they procreate with. Furthermore, one of the benefits of feminism is the availability of a variety of birth control options for women. So, what is the problem? Why do we have these disturbing numbers? The creation of child support and various public assistance programs, which reward this type of behavior is what has had a powerful influence. Women are given the incentive to be 'single mothers' because there are so many benefits to them. Immediate and financial benefits, mind you. Nevermind the damage being done by raising a child without the father being around. I've seen the child support system financially rape some of my friends. I've seen men incarcerated, even though they had worked out agreements with the mothers of their children, and the legal counsels were in agreement to the terms. The judge still locked the guy up. I am so fucking GLAD that I haven't ever had kids out of wedlock. The system is designed to benefit the mother exclusively, and you could even say it tends to reward bad behavior. It definitely punishes the father, regardless of what his choice may be about handling the situation. I don't think that state approved marriage is the only option for a couple, but if you get pregnant, it's a lifetime commitment. But hey, in the urban areas, it's cool to be a 'baby mama'...It's cool to 'put dat n****a on child support, gurrrrrrrrrrrl'...There's a cultural problem here, and the system that exists is only exacerbating the situation. As a society, we have to stop rewarding bad behavior. We simply must stop making excuses for these women and their irresponsible decisions. It can NOT be that hard for these women to make it to the 'free clinic' and get some birth control. Pills, IUD, The Shot, The Sponge, The Patch, The Cervical Cap, Nuva Ring, The Morning After Pill...Seriously.
I have to agree with cozmo g that the hip-hop culture promotes it (both being a baby's mama, and being an illegitimate father). I wouldn't be surprised if that statistic is steadily rising in the white community.
