Martin Joel Erzinger apparently must love Denver's DA, who refused to prosecute him for felony charges because 'his job would be at risk.'

Just goes to show that the wealthy are better than the rest of us, and can buy their way out of any annoying inconveniences like hitting a cyclist in the road, stopping to load up the damaged bumper while ignoring the badly injured cyclist's please for help, then driving away.

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says it wouldn't be wise to prosecute Erzinger, because it would hurt his source of income.

Well, the victim has deep pockets of his own, and I imagine this will turn into a huge civil lawsuit, which will probably impinge upon the perpetrator's ability to pay anyway.

Justice in this country turns a blind eye when it comes to the wealthy and the privileged class. Is this what our founding fathers wanted for this country?

    What is your opinion?

This does not shock me in the slightest.... though if it were made to be national news it might force a revisit by the D.A. and ultimately cost him his position if it could be processed in a manner to evoke a reaction... like when a sitting Democratic president is caught getting a blow job in the Oval Office. I imagine that the charges would be most vigorously prosecuted if one of us sheep were accused.

So- I guess if Erzinger had then raped Milo before leaving him for dead the story might have been different?

    Riiiiight!

Don't we have something called "insurance" that makes his ability to personally pay restitution irrelevant?

This is the most outrageous thing I have ever heard. People's lives are ruined including lost jobs and much worse for crimes that don't hurt anyone else every day.

I looked up other sources on google news, and they all seem to say it was because the prosecutors didn't want him to lose his job. I can't even explain how crazy this is. I'm not someone who believes that someone like this would normally get prosecuted like the rest of us, but this seems to be taking it a step too far. I'm really in shock and disbelief.

From a human suffering stand point..

Man rides bicycle down the street.

Rich Man hit bicyclist with his mercedes. Rich man flees the scene.

Lawyer man say "Rich man should be off the hook for this crime. I mean, he's rich, but if he were to be convicted he could become LESS rich"

    Judge agrees with lawyer man.

    Charges dropped against rich man.

    Bicyclist stares in disbelief.

Jesus sheds a tear for the mockery and hypocrisy of america.

Dr. Martin Luther King said "An injustice somewhere, is an injustice EVERYWHERE.

I see this as a grave injustice trhat should be dealt with.

Good read HipChris, I always enjoy your posts my friend!

Yes..And he more than likly is heavily insured. And if he would have called 911 and stayed at the scene that would have been all there was to it. But he drove off and hit and run is illigal. The fact that he did stop to load the bumper and just ignore the cyclist shows a lot of indeffernce??is that the word I want?? He just doesnt give a shit about others...Justice shoud be equal.

I live in the 5th Judicial District where Mark Hurlbert is the DA. The 5th JD covers Summit, Lake, Clear Creek and Eagle counties (IIRC the accident was in Eagle county).

While Mark is well known for his disregard of victim's rights, the Communist State of Colorado is just as bad. I can name several DA's known for this. In fact two judges in the Boulder(?) area were released from their positions because of an judicial-abuse issue (they may not have their judge positions any more but I betcha Tim Masters [Google his name] is gonna have a new position for them!).

For car incidents like this, the state simply does not care. A year and a half back in Denver a man was paralyzed after getting hit by a DUI that blew a red light. When the cops found out the victim had a record, THEY DID NOTHING.

I have been the personal recipient in two such crashes involving drunk drivers, and both times the courts did nothing. That is where I acquired the disabilities & impairments that plague me today.
