    i've been meditating for a couple of years and have had some interesting/blissful experiences while doing so.however i have a constant pressure feeling above and around my eyes that i feel is due to my practise, and as a consequence i have now stopped.during a meditation my eyes and tongue twitch as if charged with energy and i feel as if their is a build up of energy around my eyes that needs to be released. i have tried changing techniques etc but this hasn't worked.their also seems to be alot of heat around my eyes and forhead, which again i feel is due to my practise.
    i started meditating using a visual aid, have tried breathing and mantras, but none of them seem to make a difference.
    as i have already said this pressure/pulse/tension type feeling seems to be there constantly.could there be some sort of blockage? or ami i simply trying too hard during a practise and need to relax

    thanks for your time

    You could be experiencing Kundalini syndrome

    I wouldn't recommend continuing your practice until you see a competent yoga master and also a physician, just in case you might have a medical problem.

    ^^You may be exactly right on this...

    If for some reason you are not able to consult a qualified yoga master or medical professional and still wish to continue your practice, I give the following advice;
    (from a Chi kung /Taoist yoga perspective)

    Be sure to keep your tongue in contact with your soft palette (the soft part of the roof of your mouth, just behind the hard palette) while meditating. For the best connection, you will have to find the exact spot yourself. You'll feel sort of a tiny electrical tingle when you find the right spot... (it's usually good enough to just make sure your tongue is in contact up there somewhere)
    This completes the circuit where chi circulates, beginning in the perineum (mid-point of your crotch), up the spine and then back down through the top of the head, through the brain and eyes then through the contact point of the palette and tongue into the front channel through your organs and back to the perineum.
    Keeping the tongue on this spot acts as a safety valve so to speak, letting energy balance naturally. Try to feel and lead the chi as it flows through this natural circle.

    Oh yeah, watch your diet too, be sure to eat your veggies! :)

    Good luck!

    ZW

    TomTom, seek a doctor, please. Unless you don't have insurance, you don't have much to lose mentioning this to your doctor. Have a great weekend.

    Meditation means letting go of thoughts. If you are letting go of thoughts, and are thus mentally peaceful, why do you have headaches? That should answer most people’s questions. Meditation does not cause illness or sickness. On the other hand, it may REVEAL latent illnesses that are laying dormant. If you are holding on to thoughts, then just as in regular life due to holding on to stress, a mental worry, or some other problem in life, maybe you are causing yourself headaches. But that’s a different issue than letting go of thoughts. If you can’t differentiate between those two, how can you understand anything in regards to cultivation? So first you have to do some personal diagnosis.
