Im leaving SC as soon as my 2 houses are sold. I was planning on moving to Asheville NC but it looks like that might have some complications. I need some suggestions on other places to live. Id rather not go too far north, I like the warmer weather. I was thinking out west, but need a low cost of living. I want a free spirited place with open minded people. I need to be able to buy a house for $150k max (id rather less) but its ok if its a fixer as long as I can live in it. Id like to be able to get one with an apartment or some kinda rental suite. Id like a good live music scene, arts, coffee shops, a farmers market. 420 friendly. One of those towns thats big enough to have a lot to do, but not a big city filled with chain stores. Id like nature around, places to hike, camp etc. Some kinda water would be nice. Any one have any suggestions on places to check out?
Try Austin. The people are great, tons of art, huge local music scene, beautiful hill country, real estates cheap. Downsides are it's in Texas, the political atmosphere statewide is pretty regressive. And it's hot. Denver has the things you're looking for too, except for the cool winters.
Yea Austin had been on my list too check out. I was wondering if it had become too trendy? Also last time I looked there wasnt a lot of houses for under 150k, that was a while ago though. Yea CO would be cool if it wasnt so cold I had planned on taking a long roadtrip to figure out where to move. That dosent look like its gonna work, at least rite now. Moving is still a bit off, but I need to start getting somekinda plan. Anyone have suggestions in CA, OR, NM, AZ? Id like to stay in garden zone 8 or higher
i've always been attracted to northeastern new mexico - tucumcari, santa rosa, clayton, etc. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP ranges from desert to prairie [desert with grass], culture seems to vary from town to town i like really small towns, but they're not for everyone . . .
here is a site that lists hippie towns from all over different countries and a lot in the US http://www.hippy.com/havens.htm
