I would much rather have the pat down. As far as I know, they get a woman to pat down women so as long as it wasn't a man patting me down I wouldn't mind. However, I do not want extra radiation.

I have to say that I am surprised by the amount of people that would rather get the body scan. Is radiation so preferable to someone of your own gender touching you in a non-sexual way?

From my experiences on the bus, I would rather NOT party with my fellow passengers as they all seemed to be diseased and deranged.

I miss the good old days when you could fly with some bud and not worry.... :(

I feel like all these rules keeping people from flying to the States, in a weird way, are to KEEP US IN the States.

I would rather have a pat down.

I HATE flying, but do it. I have to have so many bloody marys and xanax to fly.
I have to be flyin' BEFORE I fly. :D

I just want to be able to pick out the person that pats me down. That sounds fair right? :D

They keep saying that the ionizing radiation that these machines create is completely safe. But what about the ozone that is created when things are ionized? Aren't those TSA people going to be sitting next to a giant air ionizer for at least eight hours a day? Didn't the Sharper Image get sued out of existence because those ionizing air purifiers that they insisted were completely safe were actually hurting people?

Breathing in ozone can cause severe lung damage over time.

Or is this a different kind of ionization?

i said body-scan, but i meant to put patdown.

a patdown is NOT a 'grope'

patdown includes arms, underarms, side, chest(males), waist, thighs, calves and ankles.

obviously most weapons would be found through this and metal detection, but you can still safely stash some bud in your crotch :D

I avoid airports and I avoid the united states. Sorry I is not a terrorist and is not a criminal. I deteste that when I went to NY they treat me like terrorist or criminal. I have money and it is my money and I will use it where people treat me nicely.

You also get a large dose of attitude from those TSA employees. It could probably be lethal eventually.

Not getting radiated would be my preference :sunny:

Compared to the USA, the german airports have much tougher controls, specially when one's destination is the United States.
Still, in my experience, those who pat down are always respectful, polite and professionally quick (unlike in the USA) ... they only touch the surface of the clothes and avoid sensitive areas ... women are patted down by female employees only and vice versa. After all, they are humans. Whereas the body scanner is a machine - and who knows how much information it is able to record, let alone store.

Yeah traveling by air has become quite a trip, starting with the strangest procedure ... that is, having to proof that you are 'safe'.

I still think the body scanner is better...as long as we're allowed to put on a show [IMG]

I am opposed to the pat down and body scan. I am a very private person and the body scan is too revealing in my eyes. It would make me sick knowing some stranger saw my genitalia. However, with the pat down, you avoid any actual groping, but who knows what sick freaks they hire to do that job. It'd be my lucky day I got the secret sex nut. In all honesty, I would likely pick the route that would get me through the line the quickest. Maybe I'd wear special, home-made underpants to shield my nether-regions from the eyes of the TSA.

That's funny that you put a sun. Sunlight is radiation.

    ALL light, is radiation.

    Good day, sir.

I've heard that at Ben Gurion airport, the screening process is very different from the USA, but just as effective apparently. They are not looking for weapons, they are looking for terrorists.
A weapon in the hands of a gentle and responsible person is harmless.
You could put a nude and unarmed terrorist on a plane and he would be able to hurt people, maybe even take down the plane.

If you wear special shielded underpants, that will guarantee that you will be stripped, groped and x-rayed.

If it makes you sick to be seen naked by strangers, that could make life difficult for you in a lot of situations, not just the airport.
I am not making light of your feelings, but do you really want to feel that way the rest of your life?

I am comfortable in just my skin. It didn't happen overnight, but I am glad to have this attitude. Please think it over.

That is wonderful that you are, as you say, comfortable in your skin. I have my right to my opinion as well, which is that I am uncomfortable being touched in intimate areas and being seen in the nude by strangers. Just because it is not your view doesn't mean my view has no validity. People have different views on things.
