Every year in November, men change their appearance by growing a moustache or attempting to grow facial hair in generating awareness and funds for prostate cancer.

The rules are very simple, start Nov. 1 clean-shaven and grow a moustache for the entire month.

Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

The Movember moustache has continued to grow, with millions of dollars raised, and expanding to 10 countries around the world ...

The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for mens health. The guys behind the moustache realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the “Mo Bros,” set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.

What do you do if you already have a moustache?

I have thought about that too. I suppose one could always grow a beard to go along with it or play around with sideburn designs or, if all else fails, one could always glue pubic hair to the forehead.

I've heard of No shave November. But I'm also a supporter of October Beardfest.
