Hey, I've been trying to find some jeans at goodwill and have only found dress pants. Is it uncommon to find jeans at goodwill ? Also I have been looking for a good jacket that is simple and black; Where would be a good place to look for that ?

Its probably just that all the jeans are being bought. Also try Salvation Army, and other thrift stores.

used clothing stores often have an "in" at thrift stores and get the good clothes before they go out on the floor

this would include decent pairs of jeans, esp levis

i've taken to wearing dockers as they seem so easy to get . . .

How would I get to look through the "in"? Would I just talk to a worker?

    lol

first, they almost never admit it

second, the buyers kiss way more ass than you can

    third, fourth, fifth . . .

i don't know where you live but most towns of a decent size have at least a few thrift stores, some carefully hidden

they fall into three categories [there's a 4th category, for-profit thrifts, but they're not cheap and they usually just suck]:

the big "corporate" shops: badwill, starvation army, vince 'n' paul - they have good points and bad, occasionally indifferent staff, often slightly higher prices, but lots and lots of stuff

hospital guilds: always staffed by an army of old ladies who drink coffee and eat donuts all day, usually they are the most "decorated" of the bunch, pricing can be really low and really high

small independent stores, who give all their money to local charities or local people in need, usually looking kinda "junky", the same two tired people work there day in and day out, often you have to ask for the price and it's absurdly low

guess which of these is the best?

also, the hardest to find . . .
