Apple computer company is now working with Rupert Murdock to bring a new publication to the iPad. The iPad "newspaper" will bring Murdock's tabloid style "journalism" and his highly biased Republican views to the device without having a website or a real print newspaper. Murdock and Steve Jobs are behind this initiative and it just goes to show what a right-winger Jobs really is.

So who is up for a BOYCOTT of all APPLE products to protest this Conservative alliance that threatens Free Speech? If it isn't Jobs intent to feed political propaganda to the masses who own Apple devices, then he should team up with other news organizations and offer "equal time" on his devices to them.

The power of one person is often discussed around here... This is an example of how much influence one person can actually have...

It's just too bad its an evil example...

how the hell is this propaganda? and evil at that?
just dont download it. simple enough. i'm sure the majority of people will be "boycotting" this anyway.
1$ a week is overpriced too, imo.

You don't think Faux News is right wing propaganda?

Don't you know Murdock gave $1 million to the Republicans in the last election?

Steve Jobs is showing his true exploitative capitalist colors. Since when does a hardware company get to decide what content gets shown on its devices?

Jobs has been controlling all media applications on iDevices for quite awhile now. He gets to approve iPhone apps. If they don't like you or your app, it's no go.

It's just like Microsoft forcing you to use their browser so they can eliminate competition and control what you see and do. But what Apple is doing is worse!

Murdock seeks to monopolize the media, and this is just another feather in that cap. Thanks Steve Jobs for handing him a NEW PLATFORM for his propaganda.

New media is supposed to supplant the old media, not just in style and delivery, but content too. But NOOOOO! Jobs just had to open the door to this OLIGARCH to control one of the promising progressive new media with old style propaganda.

Boycott Apple Products this holiday season!!!

well yes based on how he uses law regulations for his purposes. left wingers'd do that too.

    so

apple is definitely not just a hardware company.
and the only thing evil is that apple approves the apps that are offered in their app store. this partnership is simply for making an app. it's not being forced onto devices, on the contrary, you'd have to pay to get it!
i consider propaganda to be from the government. you can say rupert has his hands in a bit too many places, but to boycott apple because steve jobs and rupert are making app, so the fuck what.

yes, you're right. make a post about boycotting the app store and apple approving the apps themselves and i'd join the boycott.
this boycott should be boycotting the app they make not apple products. seems like you guys are taking things out of context with this article.

how is it worse? with apple products, you can buy many different software from firefox, to silverlight, to adobe, to w/e and the machine would still work great. plus if you don't like apple's approval on the iOS devices, then jailbreak it.

and why do you think apple is forcing people to download this app?

says who? our democratic and capitalistic system has been the same damn crappy thing for a while. what makes you think the content will change?

This reminds me, I need to look into jailbreaking my iPhone. I'm sick of the app store being so restricted.

Scariest thing is how many people buy into the "fair and balanced" catchphrase, and think Murdoch is an honest hard-working son of America type. :/

but seriously why would anyone want to buy shitty ipods that break after a year, or the power button breaks and you can't turn it off, or you have to hold it together with a couple rubber bands, or the power cord's rubber strips and you have to hold it a certain way to get it to charge. Not to mention it's a billion times harder to put music on it than any other mp3 player ever.

These same problems probably apply to the laptops and all of their other products but I'm just speaking on behalf of people I know and their fucked up mangled shitty ass ipods. my mp3 player is worth like 30$ and there are no problems at all. /rant

I do read (but try not to buy) Murdoch press newspapers among other papers even though I disagree with their editorial about 75% of the time, and the news section is biased and ultra-selective. As long as you are aware of their bias, I think it's good to read things you disagree with so you know what the "others" are thinking, but don't pay for it. If there was a neutral and impartial paper with good quality writers I would buy it, but that doesn't exist.

The Huffington Post is a great online news source, somewhat partial to liberal themes, but they report everything the conservatives do too.

I'd like to see Apple offer that option too, instead of just a conservative one. I know they are wanting to make the iPad a platform for news, so I'm sure there'll be more offerings coming. But if Steve Jobs gets to choose which sources, don't be surprised if you see Murdocks publications #1, #2, #3, etc.

I've been boycotting ALL Apple products ever since people started using them as status symbols, from the very first iPod to every single one of their current line of products. I give a big F-U to all status symbols in life, be they cars, clothes, electronics, etc.

The only Apple products I have ever used in my life were the very FIRST Macintosh computer ever made, that damned grey box, and after that the very FIRST iMac ever made, and both of those I had no choice but to use at school.
