It was only a matter of time before this would happen. A marijuana trade industry lobbying group was formed to help businesses on the national level. Despite many local groups being formed in the past few years, it's become imperative to coordinate legalization and lobbying efforts nationwide to effect change. As the cannabis industry expands, there are so many issues that need to be lobbied and now there's a group to do it. Here's the story from the NY Times (it's behind their firewall!) http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/23/us/23pot.html?src=twrhp
It's a start but I feel like it's going to take some time to combat the private prison lobby and of course the lobbies from the drug companies but it's a start.
What would be cool would be to get all the lobbyists for the various sides together in a ring and let them "duke" it out!
"J. B. Woods, a former insurance agent for Allstate who now sells property and product-liability insurance to medical marijuana businesses in Colorado and other states" Cha-ching!
