The key there is perhaps. Most of the inoculations that we have are for diseases that we can not develop immunity to. That small pox and many other diseases have been eradicated through vaccination only were developed as they are not able to be managed.

I do not believe that we should live in a sterile environment as we need to develop antibodies to combat germs. That is our first line of defense against pathogens.

I do believe in using medicine to improve life. By eradicating diseases that we can we improve the quality of life for everyone.

Yea, I just got it. :)

That's one of the more unfortunate aspects of the media's scare tactics. On the other hand of the cry wolf effect, they scare everyone into being afraid all the time, taking extreme preventative measures, which is what they want because that means more people buying canned shit, batteries, bottled water, etc.

Funny how these things usually line up with back to school time too. What better way to control the new herd..er..generation of kids than by vaccinating them all at the start of the school year.

In my second last year of high school they sent out reports to certain people telling them that they would be suspended indefinitely until they get caught up on their shots, I was one of them. I was out of school for a little over two weeks because I couldn't get in to get these vaccines. That always seemed fucked up to me that they would sacrifice a kid's education because of this.

P.S.- With regard to the eroding of the media's credibility, I don't think that's a bad thing.

Of course. I just don't really "agree" with flu shots. When my dad was 5 or 6 he developed polio (apparently from swimming in the Ottawa River). It wasn't until a few years later they came out with the vaccine here.

I do agree with you about the flu shots. I think if you are healthy then it is something to really consider before taking.

    Common sense maybe.

My mom when a young teen came down with TB. She spent two years in the Ottawa Sanitarium (now the Royal Ottawa) and almost died. I am thankful that these type of diseases are more controlled now. I rather love my mom. :)

My problem is when I take my kids to the doctors, the bitchy doctors always try to give my kids literally like 6 shots at a time. I was done. i told him, that I would research every one and get back to them, they almost called cps on me, just bc my kids are nto up to date on their shots. i pick and choose carefully. and REally some of them are very unnecessary. I get a lot of judgement for this. My kids rarely ever get sick and they play in puddles in barefeet, always out side, playing with other kids.

Thank god I don't have a real job. They will have a difficult job finding me and making me get the shot. Seriously though, that is fucked up.

In a lot of healthcare settings it is already mandatory for employees to get the flu shot. I work in a healthcare setting and while we aren't required to get a flu shot, there is a lot of pressure to do so and its frowned upon when we decline.

I understand the need to vaccinate against diseases such as smallpox, polio, etc. This produces a herd immunity which has successfuly eradicated many diseases. However, requiring the population to receive an innoculation once a year for a virus which will mutate by the next year and generally doesn't cause any more harm than keeping one in bed for a week or so is a little ridiculous and so obviously about one thing only: profit.

I've never had a flu shot. I did, however, update my tetanus shot a couple years ago.
Tetanus is one of the things that you can't be protected from if everyone else but you has had the shot. ;)

Flu shots freak me out. They can't predict what the virus will be, so they guess and a lot of people get sick anyway...wtf.

I need to get a rubella shot after this baby is born, I found out that my antibodies are low for that. Apparently the vaccines were not properly stored when I had it originally.

No Chicken pox shots for my kids either, I kind of pick and choose which ones we'll get.

Reading your link breakdown of it... fits very neatly in to my concept of who's really running the show and its true objectives. The scary thing is that a vast majority of people wouldn't take it seriously at all and buy into the fallacy that it is truly food safety and not maximizing profits that is first and foremost. That it is the avenues to natural food sources and treatments that are being legislatively cut off tells me that governments of countries like the United States are knowingly compromising food safety to safeguard corporate profits which government actions show are far more important than public health.

The government is most certainly NOT YOUR FRIEND.

I had all my shots that I NEEDED. I remember my school (in grade 7) made me get another one, or else I wasnt allowed back till I got it.

For some reason, I dont trust flu shots, I didnt even bother with the H1N1.... I was laughing at it honestly, and I do with the regular every year "flu shot"

H1N1 got a good half year of publicity and never lived up to the hype. The sense that this was an artificial crisis started really hitting when in the fall of the supposed pending pandemic there were severe shortages of the serum despite there being many months of notice... then came the day by day news reports of numbers of cases... in this state broken down by county.... and death tolls of course.... both in state and nationally. The media was certainly doing its part to try and terrify us into submitting to whatever our legislative national syndicate had in store.

I get this image in my mind of a bottle of liquor with the name 'FLU' and everyone having their shots.
