codeine/paracetamol separation-possible liver damage

Ok can anyone who knows more about the subject than myself please shed some light.
Been using codeine on regular occasions just want to make sure I'm not doing any damage here.

Usually I'll crush up 20-40 codeine paracetamol tablets around 8-10mg/500mg into the bottom of a glass. Used to use hot water but I think it'll only really acheive making the process more time consuming. So I'll fill the the glass about 3/4 full with cold water from the fridge, give it a stir and then put the glass in the fridge for about an hour or so. I'll then carefully pour off the water from the pile of gunk into another glass, put the clearer water back in the fridge and leave for at least a few hours or preferably overnight. Then again I'll pour off the water from the bit of gunk at the bottom and end up with an almost but not quite clear solution, a bit white. It tastes quite strong but not just the bitterness of opiate alkaloids, I can certainly taste some paractamol. I'll then repeat the process with the first bit of gunk, but I've found this stuff doesn't separate as well once redissolved for some reason.

Now I'm fairly sure what I'm doing is safe, haven't been filtering because I found using a coffee didn't make my end result any clearer. I'm guessing that from, let's say 40 tablets, 20g of paracetamol, a likely slow and painful death if taken all at once, I'm probably only ending up with a small portion in my end result, 5% would be a gram of paracetamol which is perfectly safe, even 2g at once is not ideal but probably not very dangerous.

Just wondering though, if I'm getting 5g of paracetamol each time, which is maybe 5 or 6 doses every month, would I do damage and not notice until the damage to my liver builds up over time. Maybe this is paranoia, I'm guessing its safe from the colour of the liquid at the start, which is white, and the amount of powder to begin with compared with the amount of gunk ended up with, which looks to be about equal. I can definately taste more than codeine though in my result, and I did evaporite once just to see how much powder was there, I reckon more than a gram, but I guess there's a little more than codeine and paracetamol that will end up in the water, fillers and binders, etc..,

Any advice from anyone regarding potential dangers of this process or advice on how to end with with a more pure end result would be appreciated.

 

Also does anyone know how to refine pure codeine from the solution, I would be curious to know how to do it.
I was thinking of trying to same process as making crack from cocaine. Maybe putting my final solution in a pot, and adding amonia drop by drop while stirring over heat and hopefully ending up with a rock of freebase codeine? which could then be smoked, a lot nicer than drinking crap.
