I have been trying to grow my hair out for a while now. For some reason my hair grows incredibly slow! I take a multi-vitamin (there is vitamin E in it), but I don't know if there is anything else I can do to make it grow faster. My hair is to my shoulders but I really want it to be to my mid-back. . .

    Any suggestions?

this may be strange but you have to eat something fatty to get the goodness out of vitamin E.It was on tv last night.

    Biotin helps alot.

    horsetail tea.

    brewers yeast.

Youre hair should grow a bit faster.

Massage your head. If you get the blood in your scalp working more (via a massage) it helps the hair growth.

I heard that pre-natal vitamins really help hair and nail growth and strength.

I've been growing my hair out for a while too, but I'm starting to think that it's now as long as it will ever be. Ah well, there's still hope for hair down to my tail bone, paitence, lol

    Cut it off!

    I love my hair short.

***Although I feel left out when I hear David Crosby singin' "Almost Cut My Hair."

... I didn't and I wonder why... I feel like letting my freak flag fly...

    Beautiful lyrics!

You can get Biotin at pharmacies on the vitamin shelf. It's a natural protein, and I've heard that it makes your hair grow really fast, like ears to butt in a year.

head stands for approx 1 -2 mins per day can "supposedly" increase hair growth from 0.5" per month to 1.2" a month. Fact or fiction, i dont know but its worth a try.

words from the mama with waist length hair...

feed your head. good food is good hair (and other body parts)
protien, essential fats (you CAN have ONE slice of cheesecake/scoop of Ben and Jerry's/ olive oil soaked foccacia every so often) a wide range of vitamins, careful with too much iron, so if you use pre-nates, alternate with another multi.
Blood flow: exercise, massage, headstands (yes you can use a wall) a good night of grooving at a show..... what ever you like. If you are healthy, then your hair will be healthy.
care: treat your hair like antique silk. sleep in braids or at least with a slick pillowcase. be easy with combs and brushes and get rid of any with sharp parts.

use shampoos/ conditioners that do not leave residue. I personally dislike the "horse tail" conditioners because of a build-up. Too much build-up endangers your hair.
learn to love conditioners. Deep condition weekly if you can and monthly if not.
I use olive oil or veggie oil in a pinch.Leave on at least an hour and preferably overnight. Cover the pillow with a thick towel. (note when washing it out, put the shampoo in BEFORE wetting the hair. THis will speed the process considerably.) I will often oil my braids for the last four inches in hot weather.

do NOT use anything in your hair that brings hair out when you remove it.
Scrunchies and hair sticks are your friends. I do wear mine up a lot, but I will also leave it down 2 days a week.

Hair has a terminal length. it is "programmed" to grow so long before the follicle falls out and that is it. what we can do is keep it from breaking before that.
I decided to see how far mine would grow about five years ago. It was what people call bra-strap length. I now catch it in the waists of skirts and trousers.
I have cut a large chunk off because of a candle accident... by the way, make SURE your hair is back when you are around flames.
also, keep it up if you are dancing near smokers.
I think my terminal length is some where on the thighs. We'll see.

just remember to trim off damage before it travels up the hair. Standard advice is one-quarter inch per month. Spread that to six weeks to two months to gain length.
There is no cure for splits. only prevention.

Not much you can do to speed up the actual growing speed, but just take really good care of it like everyone else said and your new hair will be healthy. :)
