psychedelics can be used for many things. one of which is personal growth and spirituality. but if your personal growth via psychedelic use is coming in between you and your husband, then maybe you ought to question the extent to which you are growing. it sounds like you are looking for a way to justify your use to your husband. which isn't a bad thing, as long as you are sure that is really a direction you want to be taking. your personal growth and intellectual enlightenment doesn't really count for much if it isn't having a positive impact on yourself or the enviroment around you, especially those that you love. perhaps what he sees in you from your psychedelic use scares him, so much so that it puts him off psychedelics. maybe if you eased up on the importance of psychedelics then he would be opened to the experience as well, and you could explore those realms together. if he had a bad experience, then try to understand where he is coming from psychedelicly and build on that to ease his fears and assure that he has a positive experience next time, and to open his mind. we all like to push the envelope, but there is a time and a place for everything. maybe his time for tripping is over, or maybe it isn't. you can get a better handle on that than any of us.
Is it really not enough that you're an adult, and can do whatever you damn well please. It's clearly something you enjoy doing. The physical side effects are not enough to cause any worry. Smoking pot is probably worse. This is not a self destructive habit. It's not like your a junkie or an alcoholic. You have a curious mind, and psychedelics help scratch it when it itches. What's the beef?
There is many things you can benefit from psychedelics and they usualy vary from person to person. I will specify the things it does for me: -creativity in art -connection to nature -connection to inner energy and vibrations, witch can lead to better rebalance physicaly and mentaly - to discover what I don't like about myself and surrounding and what needs to be done to correct those things -better or higher connection to those ones I love - to discover and remind me how easy is to give love - to discover and remind me how important love is - to discover and remind me how precious is every breath we take - to discover and remind me that life must be preparation for a transition to another dimesion - to discover and remind me that we are not alone - to discover and remind me that there is more than one dimension of life - to discover and remind me that we are all equaly important part of the universal energy, no one is more important - to discover and remind me that we have soul - to discover and remind me that you can actualy see the music and taste the color - to discover and remind me that you can visit many places without leaving the room And so on, and so on.... I would also like to specify negative things that can arise from use of psychedelics, its not all beautifull. So here we go, I will specify all negatives that I came across in my long psychedelic history: - Society can judge you and lock you up - People who don't know anything about psychedelics think that you are crazy and they want them and all their relatives and friends to stay away from you - You might get fired at work - You might think that you are better then those ones who never tried psychedelics - You might want never to leave those psychedelic realms because they seem much more real then a real life, leading you to abuse the substances To make a conclusion, most negative things can be very easily avoided by keeping your use secret to those who shouldn't know about it, or by researching the substance before you jump in the deep water. The list of positives is probably even longer, but I'll leave to everybody to discover those things on their own, as it is very difficult to belive all those things to somebody without feeling it yourself.
I think the way that psychedelics have been most beneficial to me is just that they remind me how magical the world really is. They open my eyes to many things that are wonderful and many things that are terrible and give me a different way to view these things. They also remind me of how special my relationships with others are. Plus, sometimes the world wears us into a cynical state and certain drugs can help us to see the good in the world.
I've had bad experiences with synthetic drugs, but never with psychedelics. Psychedelics and I are fantastic bedfellows.
