Here's my view on Thanksgiving. You had a bunch of stupid white people who didn't like drinking partying and cavorting and also didn't know jack shit about agriculture and survival miraculously surviving their first year. They held a feast and invited one of the natives that lived next door so he brought all of his friends and they brought food. They then thanked the noble savages by stealing their land and driving them out into the desert, and taught them useful skills like scalping. On top of this they took a few back to Europe and used them as sideshow freaks. Forget about pilgrims and colonial history. Thanksgiving should be about giving thanks. Has anyone got anything to be thankful for? I am thankful that I have a sturdy roof over my head, fire in the stove, and food in my belly. I am thankful for a wife who loves me, supportive neighbours, and outrageously beautiful natural surroundings. It ain't got nothing to do with turkeys and black hats.
I'm right with you guys. The meaning of a holiday can change over time.I love ya anyway Rev.Pocahontas is one of my favorite NY songs.Happy Thanksgiving. hahaha. yeah, i always laughed when my teachers taught me in school about how splendid the day of the pilgrims and the indians got together and had a feast. They always forgot to mention the fact that the pilgrims then turned around, raping and killing them. How pleasant. But i also understand that like the others said, holidays change meaning over time. hell, i see atheists celebrating x-mas, but it doesn't make it bad. Haha. Oh well, i see it as a day for thanks anyway, ignored all the history bull crap. I like it though, your the first person other than my dad who has brought this up
