I've just begun my dreadlock adventure, sitting now at approx. 4.5 months. My hair is reaally scraggleeee! So much so a gal once gave me $20 in a thrift store because she thought I was homeless! Recently i've been getting a little discouraged with my dreads, I have approx. 50 all varying in size/length. Some are 15'' others only 3''! Some are starting to lock, others are just forming! Can anyone relate ? Give me a short run down of your story for inspiration! Also can you please post pictures of people with "unique dreads" ?
Just Passed The 15 Month Mark Here, Have Roughly 50 Ranging In Length From 3-4inches At The Front, To 8-10 At The Sides, And 10-12 At The Back.... Still Have About 10 Babies*dreadlings* Forming On The Sides At The Front, Some Only Consisting Of A Dozen Or So Hairs. Laughed At Your Experience In The Thrift Store, I Have Lived In This Town All My Life, And I Was Very Self Consious When I Started. One Of The Nick Names In The Messy Stage, Is "Hobo Hair" And To My Horror The Town Hobo Who Sits In Front Of The Post Office At 10am Each Morning With A Bottle Of Beer, Started Saying Hi To Me, For Years He Had Never So Much As Given Me A Sideways Glance.... I Didn't Know Wether To Laugh Or Cry.... 15 Months Later He Still Greets Me With A Cheery Good Morning Mate...:sunny: Cheers Glen.
This is my hair after 4.5 months.. Alot of my dreadlocks show characteristics of locking up! My lady friend did maintenance on my dreads about 2 weeks ago, (she turned my original 20 dreads into 50+ ish ---Owwww!) She isn't experienced with dreads but I she freed up so much movement in my scalp and can't thank her enough for it.. Head rubs feel goood again! Although she did tie alot of knots in my hair, particularly at the end of the dread..Will this effect the locking process? Alot of my dreads just have "Straight hair" that I can pull apart with my fingers, am afriad that this will not lock up because of the knots? would love some pics of you guys going through the rough stages!
Looking good for 4.5 months actually. And I think pretty much everyone has unique dreads. And are you doing MOvember? Cause i spotted a sweet tashe!
I think they look great for only 4 months! give them some time and leave them alone. Also untie the knots, the tips will dread eventually
