So a TV presenter has admitted killing his partner who was in hospital dying of aids in hospital and in terrible pain. He is now being investigated. I can understand why he did it. I personally would rather someone helped me die if I was lying in hospital knowing that there was nothing anyone could do to help me and was in such terrible pain. It's my life, why can't I decide what happens to me I understand that euthanasia could be a way of cold blooded murder, but it the majority of cases it really is out of love isn't it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKFehQYOEV0"]YouTube- BBC man Ray Gosling admits killing Aids-suffering lover
i agree with it. There was this case in canada of this girl with severe Cerebral palsy, her spine was bent at a 75 degree angle which crushed all her organs, and she had operations done which put her in constant angony all the time. she couldnt take any stronger meds than tylenol, which helped little. Her father couldnt bear to see her live that way and assisted her in commiting suicide. he said it was the hardest decsision he ever had to made, but couldnt bear to see his daughter being tortured and in constant pain. He was put in jail and only recently released on parol...i would have pulled the plug on her too though! i mean she was in constant pain. i agree. it is out of love. when you argue that life is precious and a human life should never be ended... didn't this girl have a lesser quality of life? besides, we don't know what happens after death. could be alot better than suffering in pain for years.
:iagree:The Catholic Church would have a duck over this - but I can't see forcing someone to remain in excruciation pain when there is no hope.
I just read in my local paper a letter written by a catholic priest begging the government not to change the law as a response to this case - the church cannot rule our law, I will leave when that day comes.
that made me cry.... i think there should be circumstances where euthanasia is allowed.... if you gonna murder someone there are plenty of other ways.... the law really can be an ass.... brave man!
I don't believe you should be allowed to kill someone, so no, I don't agree with it. I think a person should be entitled to take their own life under medical supervision (not a suicide), but not allow the burden to be placed on another. In this case he did in fact act wrongly, i'm afraid.
this guy has admitted that he lied about killing his partner... LONDON — A veteran British TV reporter has been sentenced after he admitted making up claims he killed a former lover who was dying of AIDS. A judge gave BBC journalist Ray Gosling a 90-day suspended prison sentence for fabricating his confession and wasting 1,800 hours of police time. The 70-year-old Gosling drew media and police attention in February when he said on a BBC TV documentary that he used a pillow to smother his dying lover in his hospital bed to end his suffering. He was arrested on suspicion of murder after he made the claims, but admitted to police after three interviews that he had got "carried away" in his confession. The BBC apologized to viewers on Tuesday for broadcasting the claim.
they are just saving face, because he is a public face. You wouldn't say something like that unless it was true, particularly at that age unless of course, you are a complete wanker.
Indeed. If that had been me or you, we would have our heads on the chopping block, with some doctor readily beside us ready to donate our brain to science his pet monkeys would need feeding.
He never even had a dying lover. He just used creative licence in an attempt to provoke empathy and understanding from the audience. He was a bit silly in fabricating it all, even if his intentions were good. He could still have had a big impact without the lie.
really? how embarrassing! i am surprised the BBC aired it... true or not, anyway... good publicity but pretty lame....
the BBC aired it...and so did every other news org....reason being that the nature of news orgs is to attract you and I...they air the shit that shocks and gets other news orgs to also air it and credit them..its an awful cycle
