I was going thru the check out at the grocery store the other day and the cashier had the most stunning blue eyes. She's new but I've been thru her line 3 or 4 times in the past month that she's worked there and thought the same thing about her eyes each time I had seen her. So here's the thing, before I knew what I was doing, I complimented her on her eyes. I wasn't being a perv or anything. My exact words were "Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think your eye's are beautiful" she thanked me but her whole attitude changed after that and not for the better. Now I am alittle older, late 40's but she's got to be in her mid 20's so it wasn't like I was saying that to one of the girls that are still in high school. I'm a pretty shy person and can't really remember ever saying something like that to a stranger before. I'm just trying to figure out what I did to offend her, was it the way I said it or even just the fact that I said it at all?
She was probably a little weirded out by a compliment coming from an older man,you live in Florida as do I sexual predator capital of the US. Not saying I think there's anything wrong with it just my $.02. Btw are you around the daytona new Smyrna beach area?
Next time don't apologize before you say something like that. It conveys the message that you're saying something wrong, and you know it, but you're saying it anyway. And there's nothing wrong with giving someone a compliment
This and the fact that you're 20 years older than her. I think a lot of younger women respond that way to older men.
I don't know if you want a female view on it, but someone once said something similar to me when I was working and it felt like a chat up line, which I didn't want. So, it's possible she thought something along that line. But, there is no harm done in saying something like that, so don't worry about offending her.
She probably figured you were building up to ask her out. Or she may just be a shy person that felt awkward.
check outs can be a dead giveaway, to what type person you are... you had: the lonely night 6pack beer, chips, pack of smokes(hi you have pretty eyes) CREEP.. you had :Filet mignon, some choice veggies, fruit(hi you have nice eye) HUMMM, this guy likes nice food. he might take me out to dinner..
Maybe she was just feeling a bit jaded, beautiful eyed women get alot of hassle in their lives Most well balanced women would smile and say thank you and get on with what they are doing... Keep up the connection go to the till again and she how she reacts, if you sense she is uncomfortable next time use another till, if not you may have made a beautiful friendship.... :2thumbsup:
We may not want to recognize this, but "Creepy old guys" are what young women despise the most. Personal compliments looks like a pretty transparent way to make contact. But I was just being nice to her, and she got angry with me! Saying something like that to a woman in her late 40s might really make her day, though.
take into concideration that she could have been assaulted in her life before you spoke to her and you may have freaked her out...she could be getting molested by dad...could be anything...you fucked up by leading with i'm sorry'...made you sound creepy maybe to you 2 they do.. .I have found the opposite....ANY person likes a compliment if it is properly given...there is a way for an older man to talk to young girls with out the creeped out reaction....
Sounds like she may have issues with compliments or self esteem. Next time you see her apologize for commenting on her eyes, then tell her she's got beautiful breasts. Then find a new place to shop, LOL
timing...... cashier been gettin' grief from her boss for talking instead of concentrating at work.... some dude tries to strike up a convo while she's at work and the boss is watching... easiest way to get rid of the dude and keep the boss happy is to give him the cold shoulder.... or she just might not have fancied ya :mickey: timing is important tho'
Problem solved, I was at the store with my wife and ended up in her line, wife pointed out that I was right about her eye's and then proceeded to apologize for me, saying the old fool was never taught any manners. They both laughed and everything was back to normal. So she must of thought creepy old man hitting on her. I guess the next time a situation like that ever happens I'll just keep my mouth shut.
I know her, when she was a child a bird of prey came flying down and stole her eyes. She replaced them with two pebbles that she found. She probably thought you were being sarcastic.
