just one more reason why I never trusted kerry. It was no surprise to see him bowing out and the media declaring victory weeks before all votes would truly be counted.

We as americans should be ashamed of ourselves to let this happen to democracy.

    The Nation;
    The Conspiracy That Never Ends
    By George Johnson

WHILE most of the world waited for news of the official investigation into the Oklahoma bombing, callers and talk show hosts on World Wide Christian Radio, the Nashville shortwave station that has become the shrill voice of the far right, had it all figured out: the Federal Building was destroyed as part of a plot by the United States Government, acting on behalf of a secret international cabal, the New World Order, whose symbol, the cold staring eye in the pyramid, mocks Americans from the back of every one dollar bill.

Within days, the bombing had been tightly woven into the sprawling conspiracy theories that have obsessed some Americans since the beginning of the Republic. The historian Richard Hofstadter coined the phrase "the paranoid style in American politics" to describe this pathological world view in which history is a Manichean struggle between the forces of light and of darkness. The conspiratorial fantasies are not simply an expression of inchoate fear. There is a shape, an architecture, to the paranoia.

Rule No. 1: The conspirators are internationalist in their sympathies. In this century the main targets of conspiracy theories have been Jews, depicted as people whose loyalty to fellow Jews makes them endemically antipatriotic, and international Communism. The United Nations is suspect, as is the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, Interpol and even the Red Cross because they supposedly place international agendas above patriotic concerns. In the 19th century, the chief conspirators were said to be the Vatican and the Freemasons. In the mind of today's political paranoiacs, which include some militia members, followers of the Liberty Lobby (the Holocaust-is-a-myth crowd) and the Ku Klux Klan, all these groups are mushed together into the New World Order, or One World Government.

The first rule is of more than academic historical interest because of Rule No. 2: In a conspiracy theory, nothing is ever discarded. Right-wing mail order bookstores still sell the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," the anti-Semitic fantasy hatched in Russia a century ago. Another big seller is "Proofs of a Conspiracy, " a 1797 book reprinted by the John Birch Society, which fueled speculation that a Freemasonic group called the Order of the Illuminati plotted with the Jeffersonians to turn over the fledging United States to followers of French Enlightenment philosophy -- the 18th century equivalent of secular humanism.

This brings us to Rule No. 3: Seeming enemies are actually secret friends. As evil as the Communists, in the right-wing mind, are the Rockefellers and international bankers (often a synonym for Jews). Through the lens of the conspiracy theorists, capitalists and Communists work hand in hand.

To what end? That's Rule No. 4: The takeover by the international godless government will be ignited by the collapse of the economic system. In an elaborate decades-long check-kiting scheme since the dollar was removed from the gold standard, the Federal Reserve has been creating money out of thin air. Once the conspirators give the word, the bankers will yank out the rug from this house of cards and your money will be worthless.

As a sign that the conspirators have taken over the currency, they had printed on the back a Freemasonic symbol: the all-seeing eye of the enlightened ones perched atop the pyramid. And there, under the emblem, is their name: Novus Ordo Seclorum.

Finally, Rule No. 5: It's all spelled out in the Bible. For those with a fundamentalist bent, the New World Order or One World Government is none other than the international kingdom of the Antichrist, described in the Book of Revelation. Revelation also speaks of the "mark of the beast," a symbol of the satanic leader that will be imprinted on everyone's forehead and right hand. Fundamentalist preachers like Hal Lindsey have popularized the notion that the mark of the beast is the zebra-striped Universal Product Code, which will be tattooed on everyone by laser to increase the acuity of the panoptic big eye.

We may never know what went through the real conspirators' minds when, as investigators say, they rented a truck, packed it full of fertilizer and fuel oil, and ignited it where it would do the most harm. But if they hung out at militia meetings, or even just tuned in occasionally to WWCR, they would have been exposed to this kind of thinking, over and over and over again.

Yeah. Way to discredit anyone who thinks outside the box, moron.

So anyone who believes what I believe is a bible-thumping extremist?

Right. Typical herd mentality, group-think propaganda whose intention is to make anyone who believes in "conspiracy" out to be a gun-toting, fanatical nut. That is exactly their intention! You're buying right into it because you yourself have a hard time thinking outside the box, and you draw your conclusions without having done any research into the very things you're mocking.

Ohhh, and look who wrote it; the New York Times. Geez, what a surprise.

Next time, why don't you just post an article by Richard Perle or Bill Kristol -- your idols?

    Neocon.

And as far as the OKC bombing, I'll let you explain why actual, live media footage from that day, just an hour after the blasts, reported MULTIPLE bombs INSIDE the building, reported by federal officials who were supposedly in the process of defusing these alleged bombs. It wasn't until later on that day that it suddenly became a truck bomb, and that became the official story.

Do some of your own research before you go posting articles from the New York Times, like the sheep you are. Do you think I give a fuck what the Goebbels of the global-elite at the New York Times have to say?

    Bahhhhh Bahhhhhh

So you're all throwing around these fairly convincing "conspiracy theories" (for lack of a better term); if one truly believes all of this, what's the solution? Moving away? Activism? Suicide? It's easy to spew rhetoric, anyone can do that. The difficult part is finding solutions. Ideally, that's what politicians are- a step above the propagandists and media (implementing the ideas found in the rheotirc).

    Ideally being the integral word.

Also, all seriousness aside, the only person that I've ever known to seriously buy into all of this NWO/Illuminati stuff is my friend Bobby's mom. And THAT bitch is crazy.

    royharper,
I've met some crazies too along those lines. Don't believe everything she says, just stay open. Pay attention to independant news and current world events. The dots will connect in they're own special way for you.

I don't buy into conspiracy theories, I'm always a skeptic. There doesn't have to be a conspiracy, all the facts and data are out there, but you won't see it on network TV.

To be honest I don't even read the David Icke books and all that stuff. I'm just not into it. I'm aware that there are forces out there doing bad things in the world. Hell, I don't give a shit whether its intentional (what may quantify as a "conspiracy" theory) or unintentional (we're just a bunch of stupid people allowing other stupid people to run the world, and its all coincidental). Either way bad things are happening.

Consciously Evolve yourself in your own way. Listen to your heart and passions, and follow them.

You are the most creative force in the universe. Act like it.

We need people to take to the streets, look what they're doing in Ukraine right now. We could learn a thing or two from them.

Serve your great grandchildren, and plan for a life and a planet that will be around 7 generations from now, however that may be for yourself.

No offense yogi_for_peace, but those people behind that link you posted should really stop wasting charity money on that. I understand that it's the principle of democracy, but you've got to understand the election outcome was predetermined since probably January 2001. They knew from the 2000 election the country would be just as divided in 2004, and the electronic voting machines were going to be their avenue for victory. Do you know how simple a code for a program that tallies votes is. Do you realize how just as simple it would be to alter the input value of number of votes? Hell, I could code it out right here if you really wanted me to. And with digital interfaces, there's no paper trial, just invisible waves that have already floated out towards space and dissipated by now.

Sorry I just had to get that rant out. I just don't think Kerry would do anything different if he somehow were in office.

I wasn't surprised about the outcome of the election and wasn't really surprised about this. I remember when Kerry got the vote to be the democrat running against Bush, I remember thinking, who the hell is this guy, and why haven't I heard about him? At the time I was all wrapped up in what Howard Dean was saying. I never heard Kerry talk about how he didn't like the war in Iraq.
Nothing we can do really, just go and on and hope nothing bad happens.

I kept saying prior to the election - it was as if the democrats were TRYING to lose - now it's just more obvious that they were even willing to throw the election if they had to. I mean, really - the only candidate the dems could come up with to beat one of the most incompetent, idiotic, poorly-spoken MORONS (not to mention possibly the most hated president in US - and definitely world - history) was this spineless, uncharismatic, funny-looking liar who couldn't even decide whether invading Iraq was right or wrong? A POTTED PLANT should have been able to beat Bush. It became obvious when the democrats picked Kerry that this was a set-up - and only becomes more nauseating when we note that Kerry - in the face of MASSIVE voter fraud and corruption - says we should all stand behind Bush. Give me a break.

Even if the recount shows Bush won, atleast it will give confidence in the electoral system.

The point isn't to get kerry in. Kerry gave up. Kerry is a pile. The point is to show to the world that we really, truely have a democracy.

Yes, I am a programmer, the logic is simple. I was aware of electronic voting machine issues, flaws and vulnerabilities. There was just a part of me deep down, that still believed the electoral system was atleast half way fair.

Yeah, the lords of the New World Order obviously brainwashed all the Democratic voters around the country into nominating Kerry so he would lose . . .

What do votes matter? Do you think people voting are really the ones who "elect" their leaders?

"Those who cast the votes decide nothing.
Those who count the votes decide everything."

The "people" didn't pick John Kerry. He was chosen for us.

I think you guys vastly overestimate the ability of a few people to "choose" for the people without their knowledge.

This whole secret-illuminati-cabal-is-running-the-world crap is simply not true and not realistic. No one who has studied political science or international politics in depth actually believes this nonsense. In fact, the only person I know of of any fame whatsoever who believed it was Saddam Hussein.
