ok so i have my labret pierced on both sides (snakebites) and i really wanna stretch them both to 5mm. just outta practically and comfort tbh, plus plugs look more awesome anyway lol, but my point is, that my parents wont let me.. and i really dont understand why. ive explained to them how theres no laws upon stretching, only upon the piercing themselves, and how under all lawful human rights i could do it anyway. but they disagree because "they said so" the most common reasonning behind parents unreasonable choices?.. i think so. basically, i was wondering if anyone could help me convince them, ive told them itd only be to 5mm, itd feel more comfortable, itd be more practical as i lose alot of the closures and piercings for normal labret studs and rings, and that its not like im going overboard.. and i just got told "if its that bad, just take em out entirely." which i also explained would be a waste of £30 and 2 piercings ive wanted since i was 13. after which i got ignored. any help pleaassee???

well, my lip piercings didn't really seal up that much even at 14-16g

and a labret piercing is the middle of your lip/a little bit lower than that

but I got tired of my oral piercings. I had a tongue ring and snakebites and labret and it all got so annoying. used to have 20 piercings now I have just a septum :)

but anyways, just gauge up with a ring that looks the same as the one you already have in

    welcome to hf btw

Its been my experience that they base their reasoning on experiences that we haven't experience yet

but you'll figure that out later :afro:

yeah man, I kind of wish I had listened to my parents and waited a bit to start getting my piercings. I started at 15.. and now I have a bunch of piercing scars from having them so long. I could do without the scars now but it was cool when I had them haha

All depends on how bad you want them/how much you respect your parents authority..

    :peace:

I just realized something, I have lumps in my lip where I had piercings there. If you get plugs if you take them out you will probably have very large lumps in your lips forever

they don't hinder me in any way or bother me and they aren't visible but they might if I took it to a higher gauge

you're lucky they let you get the original piercings to begin with. wait til you're 18 and out of their house, or get over it.

I had snakebites and then later on a labret, all at 10g and I now have 3 pretty noticeable scars under my lip. I like them, I think they look cool and add character to my otherwise plain-ish face but you might not.

Oral piercings become a drag after a while. Even after they were healed for years, I constantly got residue around the jewelry even though I washed them after every time I ate. Finally after 7 years my tongue ring began to erode away my gums so I took that out too.

On the other hand, I don't think piercings are a big deal and can't understand why parents think they are, at least they aren't permanent like tattoos, which I wouldn't let my hypothetical child get until they were an adult. More and more younger people get pierced these days and I always thought it was stupid when my parents wouldn't let me. They never had a reason better than "because I said so"... some parents are just against it but won't give you a logical reason why, but the reality of it is you kinda do have to listen to them no matter how stupid it is until you are 18 or move out of their house...

Because my parents were so strict with me I kind of went hogwild with piercings when I turned 18, getting a new one every month or so. They weren't thrilled but they realized they couldn't do anything about it because I was 18, had a job and was paying for it with my own money. Plus I was only living with them part time at that point anywya. They definitely backed off after the initial shock of the first 2 or 3 new holes in my face wore off.

I say just wait.. the liberation of making your own decisions without your parents telling you No and knowing they can't do shit about it is so rewarding ;)

I'd say just use a ring that looks similar. If you wear a stainless steel, get stainless steel.
And if your folks notice... Well you can wait two years, can't you???
