There is no question the amount of arable land worldwide is quickly reducing, but I've heard dudes smarter than I say we currently have enough food to feed all the people of our world....The US is said to be the food basket of the world :cowboy:... unfortunately our society tends to destroy and waste natural resources, resources that are going to be needed to sustain future generations. World food supply for they 21st century will depend heavily upon the kind of decisions we make today. ZW
Most people prefer a life that involves more than just having the basic nessecities of food. We've tried that before, sustenance agriculture really isn't fun, especially on off weather years.
That's just one of the effects of deregulating the commodity's market... Excessive speculation in agriculture commodity markets has played a major role in the rapid rise and fall in global food prices, contributing to a massive increase in undernourished people and commodity market instability... http://www.twnside.org.sg/title2/susagri/susagri062.htm
but industrial farming is constantly producing more and the population is constantly rising as a result
If I were you I would be more concerned with drinking beer, smoking dope and gettin' laid... You'll have plenty of time to worry about world population when you grow the fuck up, mmkay? ZW
Increased food production doesn't lead to quicker growing populations, in fact the opposite is probably true in correlation given the fact the more food a nation can produce, the more advanced it is, and advanced nations generally have low birth rates.
but I'm not concerned with those things, and I'll never grow up I'd rather not give up on all of my "childish" hopes and dreams and become a bitter old person. I'm perfectly fine being a kid -and- caring about things that matter. I've done the party all the time thing and it's not me and syd - I just think that if people had to produce their own food, they would make a more educated decision on whether or not to bring a child into the world because they'd have to take into account whether or not they could feed it. So many parents today bring kids into the world without being ready and I think if we associated having babies with all the things we have to do to take care of them like having to be there for them constantly instead of just dropping them in daycare or relying on WIC we'd see less people having them.
People who grow their own food though purposely have more kids. The more hands you can have in the future the more land you can work, and the most security your family as a whole has. Poverty has never reduced birth rates, it does the exact opposite. Besides, people feed babies by having jobs, then using earned money to pay farmers to acquire the food they grew while they were out doing other jobs, for example building irrigation canals or planting tree lines to keep agricultural land good for farmers.
Yup, it's not like folks will say "hey Martha, looks like we grew plenty of food this year...lets fuck!" and let's not even mention the influence of the papacy on world population...:smoking: (Contraception is sin) or education levels in africa...some of these people don't even know that sexual intercourse is what creates babies, for fucksake. This bill is so stupid! If it gets passed, so many slow-food proponents are gonna really bitch to the gov about it. It can't happen..I hate the FDA, they're more against the people than for. Just goes to show you how much money controls us.
