The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to pass a resolution declaring illegal marijuana cultivation on federal lands to be an “unacceptable threat to the safety of law enforcement and the public".

The Mexican gang threat looks to me like the resurgence of a violent Mesoamerican culture.

I know that has not a lot to do with marijuana but these guys are behaving like the waring city states of their classic past.

I thought it was illegal already, I guess they are going to make it more illegal.

Assuming they're stupid is dangerous. The thing is that the government assumes that we're stupid. I have very serious doubts that they actually believe the bullshit they're shoving up our asses and it really matters very little as there seems to be zero intention of entertaining a serious and rational dialog about weed's real effects. The fact that it is so easily cultivated makes it impractical to legalize and collect taxes from sales so the other obvious strategy is to brainwash gullible people into believing that it is a dangerous drug so they will support laws that incarcerate "offenders", garnish their property and money and ruin their lives.

I expect nothing less from a governing body rendered illegitimate from its own shady dealings and crimes. It is their own fucking policies that pose the greatest threat to national security... but it is our collective inattention that enables it to go on.

What the... Marijuana cultivation poses a threat to the safety of law enforcement? Shouldn't it be the other way round?

You seem to have effectively described yourself there, don't you....

It's rather well known, (not to mention bloody obvious) that nasty, greedy people sitting in national parks destroying vegetation, causing erosion, and shooting/poisoning wildlife to prevent crop theft, while spraying large amounts of various foreign chemicals, before loading up onto their ATV and going off to do the same thing a few miles away to avoid detection is NOT good for the environment. The problem isn't the pot, it's the law that causes how it's grown. This is talking about repealing marijuana prohibition.

These people are very dangerous to our citizens(wether or not they carry a badge), economy, culture, national parks and outdoors in general, and of course, the price of our pot.

    Learn to fucking read.

Oh, I just love it that the Fed is all of a sudden very concerned with Green Tree-hugger Veggey Shit. When did this start happening???? The spotted owls and all dead. And the old grove ancient forests have all been killed.

    What Bull Shit.

Now they're selling all of us "politically correct" dogma in order to make new and even more laws against growing on Fed lands because they want to get back to confiscating your land for more of their FED auction income. It's so weak that the people can't see through this BS screen.

    Remember C.A.M.P.? It's still here.

Auctioning off Military trucks loads of a grower's children's toys and auctioning off peoples lands for more War Money. Unconstitutional Thieves.

Always remember that even if you Drop Out, education is still important. Stay curious, My Friend.

Using 3 documented illegal Mex peon growing busts on FED lands, nationwide, as an excuse to create newer and bigger FED laws to use against the tens of thousands of U.S. citizen grower on FED lands. Are you kidding Me?

The Fed never did a dam thing about that poor guy on the skydo that the cartel murdered, now did they? So, who's in bed with who, here? What crooked sons of bitches. It's all about the money.

They should just legalize the growing of pot for personal use.

Remember being a small child? A VERY small child?

It's a control thing. We can't have it, so neither can they! But in this case, that's a selling point, this is motivated by exactly the right reasons. the language is very careful, but the whole idea, if you read it, is about legalizing and regulating weed. (not that I don't support saving our national parks from trafficking scum, i've been concerned about this for quite some time)

MellowViper, well that would be an AWESOME start, but think about it, in the long run, freedom can't just be legal for personal use, if that makes sense. It's got to be free, as in free beer, not free as in Recording Industry of America free(that is, the freedom to build monopolies and police, as we have now with weed, and music)

*edit* am i really the ONLY one who read the OP and OP's quote carefully? This thread reveals a victim complex, not a fighting spirit. It's all "waaaa they're trying to legalize weed to save our national parks, not because I said so", not "fuck yeah, they're saving our national parks and trying to legalize weed". And that's if the poster even discerned that the subject was legalization and not penilization.
