Notes: The police officer who rescued her was sentenced to prison. The paramedic who rescued her later committed suicide. http://lifeisreallybeautiful.com/tag/william-andrew-glasscock-jr/ Excerpt: "In 2004, Glasscock was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, sexual assault, and improper storage of explosives. In 1995, after eight years of having suffered post-traumatic stress disorder from the ordeal, O’Donnell succumbed to the disorder and committed suicide." .
"In 2004, Glasscock was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, sexual assault, and improper storage of explosives. with a name like 'glasscock' you just know the dude was teased all his life...in oct 87 i was in my first few months as a stage hand and working crazy crazy hours..32 hour shift one time..another time a 26 hour shift...i didnt see any coverage of this event at all..i only vaguely remember it happening...on the other hand i still remember my coke guys pager number from the same time period
There was a real mess going on in the TV Evangelist industry at this time with the Jim Bakker sex and financial scandal and other people who made a mockery of religion. On an old SNL clip of weekend update, Dennis Miller pokes fun at Jim Bakker asking 'how far has he fallen?' He showed a pictorial of Bakker on his way to hell. He had already passed little Jessica McClure on the way down. .
I remember when the Russians shot down KAL Flight 007 and Reagan went Ballistic (literally) I remember the Bhopal disaster back in 84’, and the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 – oddly enough those were the milestones with the exception of the TV show V which captivated my young mind :2thumbsup: Hotwater
seriously, didn't it have a happy ending? I'm pretty sure he probably had other things going on in his life that led to his suicide. I was 3 years old when that happened and its one of my very first memories. I felt very connected to poor little baby jessica. I was always terrified of falling down a well after that happened.
My High School was an evacuation point for Harrisburg, PA, if the Three Mile Island reactor had melted down.
i was living in a quad in eugene oregon when mt st helins blew. i remember that. i don't think i was anywhere near a television, or even a radio, for months before during and after, when the kid in the well thing happened. what i remember the most from the 80s was how disappointed i was that raygun got elected. that also was more or less concurrent with the mt st hellins thing. along with the personal mini-tragidy of my first computer, an ohio scientific c1p, dieing on me. all that was when i was in eugene. i remeber moving to portland in 81, working for saga foods in the federal building, joining the portland science fiction society in 82, and leaving oregon in 87 to return to placer county in california. my favorite memory of that time was portland rebuilding it's trolley system. to me that was a major (and unexpected) victory for something that i love.
Ya things started going downhill in the 80s. By the 90s it was mostly all garbage!! (And by 2000 there was no hope)
Reminded me of Samantha Smith, wrote this to the USSR Premier Got a trip to russia out of it to almost meet him, was a big deal for a while Then died three years later in a plane crash after coming home from shooting a TV show
