Ok I buy it. But I won't ever really buy it for myself. I know I'm fucked.... That I will miss out on so much of the "only true joy in life" But I think it's worth it for myself. Girls have been so mean, rude, alienating to me my whole life. For some reason I could never even make just friends with girls...None ever stuck around to be my friend. There hasn't even been an attraction to me as a friend let alone a damn relationship lol. Even at my age, I think most girls are still way immature and mentally shallow...and then with things exemplified by Robyn's first paragraph, females disgust me. I don't want one, but none ever wanted me anyways. It all works out and balances.

I'm afraid you are a little fucked. But all is not lost. Love is generally not sought - it is found. It falls from the sky on cloudless day when you least expect it. It often appears in the form of another person whom you would never consider a potential object of love. You don't choose love - love chooses you.
A total rejection of the idea of romantic love with another will certainly make the occurrence more difficult.
Don't be so hard on Robyn - again - love picks you - and first love may not be your life partner - may indeed be beyond reality. But it is the experience I am talking about - Who knows what causes it? I suspect some kind of chemical explosion that is stimulated in the brain engulfing your being in pleasant - euphoric if you will - feelings.
Be cautious if you must - but don't make the wall so high or difficult to scale that you deprive yourself of the pinnacle pleasant human emotion.
How many chance in life do you take to get what you want? This is the simplest of all risk - just be willing.

Love occurs and fails everyday. I see the love, and watch it go by. Just no one has met me half way yet.

I remember mine very well. When I first met her even saying her name out loud was exciting and felt so good. It's scary but fun going through all those awkward trials, because you know you'll only ever really feel it that profoundly the first time. Anything after is just never the same again. Nothing is ever as special and exciting as the first.

I actually ran into her last year. She's very beautiful now that she's older, but I felt nothing. Funny how those feelings just go away.

But love is not a compromise. It is unconditional.

    Ok, I don't know,
it just sounds like you people are still talking about being in love.

I can have feelings of fondness for someone in that all that I care is that they are happy, especially if that means staying away.

The OP subject is Do You Remember Your First Love??

No, I mean, it's about the other being happy, but yeah the attitude itself allows me to be happy.

And still that may be the question but it sounds like that's what people are talking about. It's probably one in the same anyways.

It's great to hear these stories - they are such an emotional lift and bring back so many memories.
I think what I have enjoyed most is that we are dealing with a higher, purer human emotion than you find in most threads - Without the crassness and vulgarities that we all seem to like to indulge in.
    Anyone else on "First Love"?

How sweet that would be. First love need not fade into the background. We have heard from some who's first love is their last.
    Who knows?
If you have had a Zippo low on fluid, you can spin, spark - spin, spark, spin, spark and then it catches. The glow of the familiar flame.
    Good wishes Jep.

My first love was my best friend. I remember the first time we ever met was on a school bus my first day of kindergarten :) He shared his pop tart with me. We were best friends until about 8th grade and then dated until my senior year of high school. We were so good together... We go to different colleges now and rarely see each other..and even then it only awkward silence. Its so odd to look across a room and see the only person you ever really loved and know that you don't even know that person anymore... I hope to find that kind of love again someday but..I don't think I ever will.

That is so sad - but is so often true with first love. Ahh to capture it again - the racing heart, the euphoria, the laughter, the intimacy. Love comes again - but it is different.

I had alot of girls I had a crush on in junior high to high school but my first love was Jenny. My best friend, I would have sworn up and down we would never seperate but of course we did and now she is in a relationship with a women as well as me. I dont think of her romantically anymore.

I wish to tell you all me and my first love reunited after 2 years of not talking...We are only friends for now but that spark is the same as it always has been. He still knows me better than anyone ever has. I find it so amazing that after 2 years he still knows me so well. I look in his eyes now and I know he is exactly where I belong. I hope all works out for the best and I finally start to believe in love again. Much peace and love to you all.

Of course I remember my first love. :) Went through a lot together. She and I have since gone our separate ways, but I still think of her from time to time.

My first love is my everything. He's my fiancee now. =] We separated from each other for about six months, and eventually mutually agreed that we can't live without eachother.

I can remember when I knew it was love. We had only been together for probably.. Less than a month, and I had spent a week straight at his house because being away from him just felt wrong. We spent every free second together, did our own thing and didn't have a care in the world.. I miss the whole carefree feeling of young love. Although I wouldn't change what I have now for the world, because he completes me.

I can't stand the couples who can't live for even a week without seeing each other. I hate the clingy kind, so to me that would be the worst thing.
