The others say she’s beneath me
They tell me her eyes are too big
That they bulge out of her head
    In a terrifying manner

They say her forehead is too large
And her lips are too thick
That her arms are too hairy
And her physique is too scrawny
That her teeth are too crooked
    And she is too small

    They are blind
    For they do not see
    How my eyes light up
Every time they come to meet hers
    However big they might be

    They must be deaf
For they do not hear my heart beat
    Rapidly like a firecracker
    On the fourth of July
    Everytime she cracks a smile

    They must be stupid
    For they overlook
    Her incredible intelligence

    They are fools

    And yet
    They laugh
    At me
