Man these things were one of my favorites as a kid. I could stare into one and just get lost for hours it seemed. Maybe that was just me... lol hope I'm not the only one so excited about 3d viewfinders
Your not alone. I have one here at work with a couple of discs of the Grand Canyon, and I still look at it every so often. Very cool.
I love love loved them too! we still sell them at toys r us....contemplated buying one, but the funds are lacking so much that i haven't. this is one of a few toys i have nostalgia for a grand canyon one eh? SOUNDS GLORIOUS...though not as glorious as the canyon herself
I believe there was a way to take your own pictures and view them. I remember the Flintstones being the best. (only cause the colors were bright then..
Yeah I think I remember that. They still sell those dinky souvenir keychains at amusement parks that you put your photo in and hold it up to the light.. don't know if they were actually 3d though. I had a generic Snow White wheel, the forest scenes with all the leaves and color and detail completely mesmerized me.
Ha, yeah I saw one a few weeks ago where I work and was like, Holy shit, they're still around! New and updated of course... I bet the wheels aren't as nice anymore, probably a bunch of stupid corny 3d cartoons (at least the kids' ones)
we have toy story and thomas the train wheels, but also a bunch of wildlife ones. the ocean ones are really cool.
my grandparents had this in the drawer with all the toys in it for when i get bored.. oh yeah they are cool
thats weird...i dont remember them as being 3D...my parents must of cheaped out and bought me the crappy non 3D version...what the hell else did i miss out on.....next thing you know you will be telling me stereo wasnt invented in the 90s?
Well, they weren't 3d the way movies with the glasses are, as in it pops out at you and is very obvious. They were 3d more along the lines of a sterogram maybe (except for the crossing your eyes part) where you can see different depths/layers and textures.. if that makes any sense at all...
I used to pretend I was an explorer with those. "Oh my! It's a wild lion here in my living room!" Ha.
The day I met my husband he was holding a 3-D camera. This was a camera with two lenses mounted at the exact same height. The film would be developed onto Viewmaster reels and viewed using Viewmasters. He would shoot 3-D pictures of the band members and 'heads on Grateful Dead Tour. Like this, but in a really old fashioned wooden housing! http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...age=1&ndsp=42&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=106&ty=87
I've heard they beautiful scenic disks go for a fair bit of cash to people that collect them, i remember these things aswell, good old days before i was corrupted by sega and nintendo dabbling at first but soon was on the harder stuff, playstation etc
