Do you see nothing wrong with the fact that you (and others) equate telling the truth, with only negative things in life? That the only magic you can find in life to share with your kids is based in lies? That you need a special day and special icon (santa) to teach them to be nice to each other? So much for ever changing the world from what it is...
ive known a few people that were pissed about being told santa is real, one stopped trusting his parents for a long time. i would never lie to my kids about it.
What on earth makes you think it's the only day and only way parents teach their kids to be nice and giving? That's simply ridiculous.

dont worry...they sell a stencil and fake snow to leave sants's actual footprints in your very own living room....really helps drive that fib home .:mickey:
The only arguments in this whole thread for lying about Santa is "let the kids have their magic" and when faced with the question of how it's any less magical for them to know the truth about the charity and good will of the holiday, "you just don't understand". I can understand if you want to do it and all that; but can't yins just admit it's absolutely pointless fun? Like kissing under misletoe, April fool's day, hiding Easter eggs, the tooth fairy, having ham for Christmas, trick-or-treating or anything else to do with holidays? I don't see why Santa is such an emotional issue..

i think that's kind of the problem. it's a harmless pointless fun little ritual, and all of a sudden there's a whole bunch of people here flipping their shit about how it's the root of all evil, and people want to point out that it's not, but it's just pointless and fun so there isn't that much to argue for it.
ok, so, lie to the little fuckers about santa claus... OH, HELL! just become jewish, then you won't have think about things like this.
If anything, I think there's been more people in this thread saying it's evil not to let the kids have 'the Santa experience'. Tom seems to be the only one in the truth camp that's has gotten really outrageous...
Yes, very outrageous to put as much effort into defending the truth as some put into defending bullshit.
Point very much taken. Well, you're the only one who's been extremely adamant? I just don't understand how the Santa people can take a moral stance and say that the truthers are being cruel/mean/whatever else they've said. You don't need to lie to the kids for: a) their to be holiday magic. I still find Christmas to be a magical and special time of year, I've known about Santa for quite a while. b) them to experience Santa Claus They still get all the movies, all the legends, all the tales; can visit him at the mall if they want to, can choose to believe if you tell them, 'he's a legend that some believe' and keep a little bit of the mystery c) other kids not believing doesn't mean shit about their own kids, they can keep the lie alive perfectly well Santa-camp: How the hell does someone not telling their kids about Santa have any negative consequence whatsoever?
Most people would rather pretend it doesn't matter. Even though you will find many examples of these same people arguing for truth and freedom of speech in other threads.... Go figure... On the bolded part... There are many examples around here of people who argue for independance and freedom, and then turn around and argue that they don't want their children to be different then other kids...
I don't think parents have to tell their kids about santa for them to know about him. It's part of our culture in movies, books etc.... The only negative consequence I see is that kids miss out on being apart of something fun. If anything it requires more effort to make sure your kids don't believe. What harm is there in allowing kids to participate? Edit: nevermind, I agree with you Duck.
