Wish I could help you - wish somebody could help me. Even when I'm clean for a while my mind invariably drifts back to the same old place - opiates. I think your brains gets rewired and it becomes like needing air. People do kick the craving though. Coming off the drug sucks big time.
I think the taper method could actually be a better solution based on adjusting your body to the end state your looking for - No opiates! I have no factual data to back this up, but it just makes more sense. Why use a different opiate product to kick an opiate habit? Just use what you have! I will surely 2nd the "opiates can ruin your life" statement. There are people who go through life, doing opiates occassionally (1-2 times a month), and there are those who get one taste of the opiate euphoria and its lights out, it becomes a mission to get/maintain some sort of daily habit. Then there are those who are Chronic pain patients, who, like the daily recreational user, needs the drug in their system 24/7. However, unlike the recreational user with a bad habit, most Pain Patients dont chase the high but are in the same boat as far as quitting Cold Turkey getting real ugly. I dont have a method for tapering in my head but I read about the method of 3s. Every 3rd day reduce your dose by 1/3. Do this until you are at a level where you can jump off. From what Ive read, jumping off at or below 5mgs should only bring minimal withdrawals. At this point, it will be the Physchological Monkey you will have to deal with. Your body should be ok as far as the need for the drug.
....ruined a good year of my life...... I slowly cut down from 60mg snorted a day to about 10mg over a few weeks. Hellish, but you need to mentally think "This is shit, im quitting" and lower your dose. Cold turkey seems like i'd rather lose a left nut. How much a day to you take? how do you take it? when do you take it?
If you really want to stop you have to be serious about it. Go to detox. I know that you can detox on your own, but i found it much better to be in an environment away from my normal surroundings, and also being in a place with a bunch of people going through the same thing. Plus, you will be prescribed plenty of "comfort meds" to ease your withdrawals, and there are people there for you to talk to whenever you need it. There are also lots of group meetings which can be very helpful. I've been through it and am on the other side with 7 months clean on Friday... It can be done. Feel free to email me, its my username @gmail.com
like you say..you have no factual data.. not even a factual opinion..... do you even know why subs are prescribed?
Seriously bro, ur gonna come on here and give me shit about my opinion. Last i checked it was allowed by the rules Subs arent for everyone. Niether is tapering. And I'm still wondering where you found SUBS in my post. But if you want to encourage people to jump on another habit to get off one, then go ahead. Yes I know about subs, I also know people who have been on them and cant get off, even though Subs are not designed as a long term Med. Also, understand words if you are gonna use them. WTF is a factual opinion? lmfao, Im here to certify that the above statement, made my be, is in FACT my opinion, therefore making it factual. So your not a fan of tapering, who cares. People can take or leave what is said on these boards, but what we really don't need are bad attitudes, take yours elsewhere....
advice and opinion, apples and oranges, but they are both fruit. could his opinion be his advice? sounds like we're splitting hairs here, just my opinion and/or advice. lol
Correct, I'll be the bigger man and stop with the nonsense, seeing as how all Mr. Rollingalone did was derail the thread when this could have been handled in private. For my part, I apoligize Crazygurl, and please take my opinion as advice, at least my $0.02 worth......
fuck you...nobody derailed the thread...i tried to keep the thread on track by offering actual advice...those 4 days of hell are extremely hard to get through without 'comfort meds'...ie valium...it knocks you out cold and keep a person sleeping for a week...i know several hardcore opiate heads that have done it....i have been paid to sit with an addict and feed him valium every few hours for 5 days....and not some pussy 40 a day habitl...,.this guy crushed 80s 2 at a time.... ....that.....and the op broke site rules by not posting an intro thread which is the usual routine of people that come on here and make 1 post and then never come back ....she has probably already found a new excuse to keep crushing .... most do
Why don't you call a place and try an outpatient program to start? Maybe give a local center a call and try to set up an appointment. You can also look up the schedule for your local NA meeting place. NA is a GREAT alliance of good people that truly want to help. I recommend trying something like that out. good luck!
Oh, so testy, I do believe ur offered advice was to travel on into withdrawals. Nice, Heres your WalMart PHD certificate Moron......
Just depends on how bad ur addicted. And how serious of a problem it has become. I know if I go w/o my meds, I get sick within 3 days. I went on vacation back in the summer and didn't take them with me. I got sick, and worst of all my stomach cramped for days along with the cold sweats (which kept me from sleeping at night). This last for a few days, then I was fine. For me anyways. (To put it vaguely) I should of stayed off since it'd been a week and half already and I made it through it, but I didn't. Addiction effects people differently, so do some research or just call somebody that knows what they're talking about and find u some helpful advice on what to do. Good luck.
What was your dose before you went into withdrawals. When I went through it (120-150mg/day), I was sick 12-18 hrs after last dose. i wish it had taken 3 days, But like u said it was over 4-5 days later.
No you will be the bigger man because you are a BIG man, a big, fat, bastard perv..... Don't worry rolling, this dude is a complete fucking tool......
