^^^ Sad music doesnt make your depressed, it helps you get through the times, you wouldent want to listen to happy go lucky music when your feeling down casue it just sounds like trash.

I wouldnt listen to anything sad at all... life and death are human concepts , though they are profoundly visual in the sense you can see them.. They are interchangeable..

You mentioned Death Cab, you should listen to their album Plans in its entirety. The whole album is a meditation on death and loss.

Eliot Smith is great, I think someone mentioned him.

Bright Eyes has some really depressing music, and I love him but I think a lot of his stuff comes off as a little too whiny when you're dealing with something heavy like the death of a loved one. For pure emotion though, you can't really beat him.

Here's some songs from the playlist I made to help me get through my best friend's death.

"Only God Knows Why"- Kid Rock (Not really about death or anything, just a nice slow sad feeling song)
"When I'm Gone"- 3 Doors Down
"Candle In The Wind"- Elton John
    "Turn Turn Turn"- The Byrds
    "Nothing Else Matters"- Metallica
"All Things Must Pass"- George Harrison
"Fire and Rain"- James Taylor (this one really really has meant a lot to me in her death)
"Don't Dream It's Over"- Crowded House (Sixpence None The Richer also does a very good cover)
"California Dreaming"- The Mamas and the Papas (it was my song for her in life, too, she lived in L.A.)
    "Bittersweet Symphony"- The Verve
    "When I'm Gone"- Eminem

Happy music is really REALLY difficult to listen to when you're grieving. And then it's even more difficult to listen to when you've gotten past the sadness and are trying to see the optimistic side of life and just associate that music with that grief. When you're that down, it's almost maddening to think anyone else could be happy, happy music is almost annoying when your world is so dark. You can only tell someone who's lost someone close to think positively so much. Just roll with your grief, Flower, and listen to whatever comforts you.
