I live in Michigan, and due to the unemployment, winter, boredom, and i guess just having the transient spirit,I have up n left numerous times with little/no money, having never been there, not knowing anyone there, couple times no car,and would like to share a little and maybe answer some questions.Ive seen several people asking and many talking about always wanting to do this.My worst experiance was last winter,I was stuck at home in the middle of winter, broke,no job,n wanted something better.I had a freind driving to Florida and chose a spot along the way-Tampa-this trip wasnt well planned, and little did i know it was top 5 for homelessness, fyi, the more homeless, the less resources you will have cause there all used up,and people in general see to many n get pan handled way too often and are alot less tolerant.Anyway,I researched the bus routes, chose a route that went the furthest out of town, and google mapped(with birds eye veiw)to chose a somewhat secluded wooded area to camp.Got dropped of,pitched my tent,n would jump on the bus to town in the morning, several days later there was a record cold snap n i was sleepin outside in 28 degree weather.just my luck..Long story short, tons of homeless, illegals(mexican, haitian)homosexuals,n no jobs.I used local gyms to shower, act like your interested in a membership n they will give ya a week free.Filled out tons of apps n didnt get a single call.Im respectable looking/nice clothes, nobody knew i was homeless.Avoid things like a backpack if you can...its a dead givaway.I ended up staying for a month n a half n flew home.Of all my experiances....I always came home.Never tried a commune, but wingin it solo can get tough. After a few weeks it gets old,yer clothes r dirty, nowhere to shower....just trying to do basic everyday things end up taking up your day trying to get accomplished.
I think all the things are good but i know some thing which you will enjoy anywhere and that is your fold able duvet sets whether you are in forest or anywhere , you can enjoy your sleep on these.Because if your on tour and you can not sleep well then it would be difficult for to enjoy
