Couldn't think of a good place to post this so I put it here

So I have a general idea of how oil gets made, but after it is made what happens? Does it just sit there forever?

I tried googling this but all I got was one thread on some forum with a lot of people bitching over the meaning of the word "purpose"

yeah I read that they use them to clean up oil spills. I wonder what eats the bacteria that eats oil though, and how it affects them...

It was all part of Gods plan to provide his children with home heating oil, natural gas, and it's many other byproducts

    It's just.
It's just we use it so some feel it needs a purpose outside our use.
There are many things we do not use and do not ask its use with out us.
    It has no use.

this is the exact same argument I found on the other forum and in no way what I was talking about

I mean what it does by itself in nature with no relation to humans. It's not even so much it's purpose I'm looking for but what happens to it next if it's allowed to sit there for long period of time. Like if it turns into anything else or changes form

It doesn't just sit there. After oil comes diamond if the pressures are high enough.

for heating and cooling the planet, and sticking ducks together..

Long time ago, satan asked GOD "why does water roll off the ducks back?" and GOD said "cause its oily"....
satan then said "I bet you 20 dollars that oil will not roll off the ducks back"... "haha" satan said to GOD taking the 20 dollars..

But then GOD said "LET THERE BE DAWN!!:sunny:, now give me back my 20 bucks, bitch!!"...... :D

who is "he"? are you referring to OP? because that's me

and while I'm not curious as to what happens to coal because I know that it turns to diamond, I -am- curious as to what happens to diamond if left alone for a very long time, if anything at all

I see. Fair enough. I presume if it is carbon it is basically transforming from one thing to another. We see oil when it is oil and we see it as other things too. What ever that might be. Diamonds, coal what ever.
    Very scientific, eh? :2thumbsup:
