Last year I found a 1964 Ford Fairlane that was selling for $4k. I still sort of regret that I never bought it. Though, it's just a car.
yikes..i take that back...just checked the other pics and thats not a resto at all...just a backyard unfinished paint job on an old car thats probably been sitting in someones yard for a few years
If it's not going to be a daily driver I'd say yes... something to polish up and take to car shows... and eventually sell for more.
Yes but maintenance of such a means of transport can take more time and money than a lot of people have to dispose of.
Only One Way To Decide, Take It For A Test Drive For And Hour, See How It Goes When Hot *smoke, oil leaks, rattles, knocks etc* Then Get Back To Us With Your Observations.... Cheers Glen.
Need more pics, it could be in a dozen crashes regardless of history report. If you want to put in the money and most importantly time, then buy it. Personally i find it pointless to by a old car and not work to restore it.
right, that's why its only 4k. the interior looks fucked, but if all the essentials work, no leaks, nothing's gonna rust apart while driving it, engine runs good, signals, lights, heat, electric stuff, brakes, and steering. I wanna drive it around a lot, but not too much. Just something to haul the kids around in, lol! I might deliver pizza in it on occasion. maybe a slow monday afternoon. just a few runs. The point of it is to be seen in it.
this is what makes me want this car. I can change the steering wheel to a larger thinner one, more standard of the time. that little red one is stupid. I can slap this cd player I got in that hole in the dash It's an automatic, too. and the car seat goes right in the back.
If you get it grab one of those 12v heaters with the 5' cord for the back window. It takes a real long time to defrost the back with the front defogger.
At some point in life we all tend to do something that is a passion rather than a need. Not always such a bad thing. If you can afford the dream then do it. The best scenario is that you have a lot of enjoyment fixing it up and getting it on the road. Worst scenario is that it does not go well and you instead sell it. Either way you get the chance to tinker with a dream. Sometimes doing a silly thing has a lot of rewards. Hope you get your car and enjoy it.
I'm getting bitched at seven ways from sunday for even looking at this thing. Im getting bitched at by someone who is spending about the same amount of money on an event that lasts one day (wedding). I guess this is how we weigh out needs and wants. Even if this car fails, I can still sell it for at least SOME of my money back. and itll last until i decide to get rid of it. I want to wait until I have the cash up front. I don't want to make payments on something that isn't making money for itself. If it's not still there by the time I have 4k, then Im sure there'll be something else similarly cool out there. But this is the one I want. Itll be hard to find this much cool for this cheap anywhere else.
Ahhh the personal chemistry of power struggles... Ya gotta do what's right for you- though creating a potential point of contention by introducing a vintage piece of machinery may not be the best option. Priori-tease.
