Hey! Sorry Salmon4me, I hate eating fish, but don't take it personally, I'm sorry for giving you more work, but I swear this is the last time for a long while! I'll gladly discuss this in the appropriate forum, but I really wanted to start this discussion here, as it is where 99% of my posts are Is suicide always evil and a sentence to hell? Samson committed suicide for the Lord, bringing down the temple upon himself. He went to heaven. My friend says it's basically a sentence to hell because it's selfish and is not benefiting others and the Lord. What if someone believes they are benefiting others and the Lord by doing so, like Samson did? Perhaps they are wrong, but how exactly does the Lord judge at Heaven's gates? I believe it is by far more than the events immediately preceding one's death...
Depends what religion you believe in. In Christianity and Judaism, i believe it is a sin, for different reasons (i dont know much about the story you posted, where exactly is that from?)...why are you posting this here? if you are interested on it, check this shiznat out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_views_on_suicide ...hope this wont convince you to do anything crazy
I guess it depends; according to many religions, suicide is an action that will condemn you to some sort of misery; hell for christianity, etc. Is it evil? Probably not, depending on how sacred one considers life to be. In modern times you could argue that committing suicide would be an act of charity as there are too many people in the world, but I don't think that mentality is going to get you very far. Personally, I think the question one needs to ask oneself isn't whether or not "God" will disapprove of suicide, but rather if there isn't some way one could contribute something to the world and humanity at large. If your life is forfeit anyway, and you are concerned about divine consequences, you might as well commit yourself to doing some good for any cause you consider to be worthy, rather than waste a perfectly good human body. At the end of the day, if you are looking for justification, you can always find it, regardless of what you are trying to justify. My personal opinion of suicide is that it is wasteful. If your life is so miserable you don't want to live it, instead of ending it, put it to good use for your fellow man, some of whom might not view life as such a terrible burden. We are fortunate to be alive in this human form, but unfortunately, many of us don't appreciate this and for whatever reason are unable to find peace in this life.
I wouldn't say it's a sin, because I don't think there is a god, but you definitely gotta be a weak bitch to kill yourself.
Suicide usually happen when the person feels as if there in a situation that cannot be solved with anything but there death. I think suicide is a punishment within itself ending your experience on this world early you miss out on a lot of the things and experiences this world has to offer. Not to mention the pain your giving to those who at a time knew you.
Using the word 'sin' almost automatically makes it a religious thing, and since you sound like your a christian you should go ask a priest. Operating outside of religious boundaries one can interpret it many ways. So i guess the question is, are you really a religious man?
sin is whatever you perceive it to be knowing it is sin makes it so denying it doesn't help since you know it is there and that makes it so
Hell is a fairy tale made to scare little boys and girls into behaving. Suicide is ending your own life. But while you may have every right to, that doesn't mean it couldn't hurt or inconvenience others
Suicide is neither good nor evil, it just is. Some people come to Earth with a predisposition towards it I think, but its all part of the reason why they are here and takes nothing away from the energy they bring to the Earth.... =D
