I dunno I feel like your perception of NJ is based off of things you see in the media. Sure there are rich areas, but every where you go is like that. I mean I would love to have parents that are willing to pay thousands of dollars to put me through college, but not everyone is a "rich white boy", pork. I know you know this because you have been to areas close to where I live so I just see it as you being negative. Its cool tho man, maybe we will in fact meet someday.

yeah that's why i put the statement in parentheses...it was me just being negative.

and i have been to new jersey, but only two nice areas though. like any state i'm sure it has nice areas and poor areas. but speaking from my own personal experience, NJ is a lot more "rich" than the area i'm from in NY state. hey! at least i'm not sayin' you're from the armpit of the USA.

my college was paid for by the school since my mom worked there. so i was really lucky there. my graduate school is being paid for by the federal government.

what is everything? is everything what we can percieve? how do you know that there is not more that we simply cannot percieve from our finite perspectives here?

stars also don't have consciousness. nor are cobras as sophisticated or intelligent sentient beings as humans are. sentient humans aren't the same as stars, or cobras, or atoms.

the point behind that arguement is that there is some kind of higher force relating to the way that we live. just as a pebble dropped into a pond causes ripples throughout the pond, so too does a person's actions effect the whole. this is because, like water, all sentient life is connected.

    the rulebook is our conscience.

it seems you have a view of the world where there is no diferentiation between certain objects or beings because we are all manifestations of the same. however, i believe, that sentient life does not fall under the same category, as a rock.

i believe in nature and love. i do not make claims to any one religion. but i do recognise aspects of truth within them.

logic alone cannot account for everything. not everything can be rationalised. intellectual understanding does not share the same core values as a spiritual understanding. while intellect and spirituality can be connected, they are not exclusively interdependant. just because a spiritual idea cannot be intellectually justified that does not make it wrong. in many ways the human intellect is what keeps a person chained to ideas of self. self has little to no bearing in spirituality. however, intellect can help to contain spiritual ideologies within a reasonable bearing relating to human conscience.

Well, something is not everything but everything is something.

Stars have more intent than you ever could. Cobras are actually far more worthy of an inheritance from this world being established as species far longer than us.

Using your pebble in a pond analogy understand that there are other pebbles being thrown into the same pond and they too are causing ripples in the pond. As the ripples spread out from each pebble they begin to intersect with each other and at each intersection another propagation of ripples from the intersection outwards occurs ad infinitum. It is impossible to calculate the effects of all these intersecting ripples. People who think it is possible believe they have good judgment, that they know what is good and what is bad, but better judgment is actually the recognition that we do not have enough information to judge.

Specialness is an ego device, it's greatest defense against the truth. We are all energy.

If the truth is not whole then it is not true. Reality is non local, nor is it remote.

stars have more intent? you mean to say, that a big burning ball of gas, has more intent, than a living, breathing, entity? and snakes are more worthy of inheretance? i thought that you believed that everything is energy. how then can there be inheretance? why does the amount of time that a species is established allow inheretance?

yes, so there is far too much going on to be able to understand on a rational basis. which is why humans have the ability to understand on a spiritual level. i'm not saying, this is wrong, and this is right.

what truth is whole? how can one possibly account for everything that is true within reality? we are constantly in a state of learning.

the point was that spirituality tempered with rationality, can prevent a person's beliefs from getting so far out of whack that you end up with something like terrorism.

    Yes intent, or intention, gravity.

Inheritance, in this instance, is your idea by claiming that humans are more intelligent or sophisticated, that is better endowed by nature. My comment is by comparison, that if successful being is the measure, then as a species cobras have superior credentials.

Reality and it's absoluteness. Nothing real can be threatened.

We are constantly in a state of becoming, we can certainly be close minded and something is not everything.
The whole defines the parts but the parts do not define the whole.

What you are referring to is abstraction

Well seems like one can produce rationalizations for every belief and be totally consumed by an enthusiasm, "being spiritual", for our own model.
Neither the term spiritual nor rational represents any special substance.

the measure isn't sucessfull being(although i thought you thought there was no sucess) the measure is the sophistication of life. the sentient consciousness of humans is not the same as that of a snake, or a star, or of any other animal, or of any type of matter. thus, it is simply is just not the same.

is reality absolute? or is it infinite?

    On the contrary.

When you realise it is just a ride, you are truly free to enjoy the ride.

I think there is no failure but I said my comment was by comparison to your premises.
Sophistication is not a measure desos, it is a point of arbitration, it cannot be consistently measured, from one moment or one person to the next.
You know only one consciousness, the mind of homo sapiens.
Those are not mutually exclusive terms.

This is so true. Its really hard not to get caught up in the whole "more money" mentality that everyone believes is the key to happiness.

I try to remember that money, and the entire capitalism system in general, is a made up system and that only love and compassion are real.

You do need to eat and thats true, but I focus on my trade which is my passion and everything else seems to take care of itself.

This reminds me of an episode of sopranos when two guys (used to be hippies) said to one another..."what ever happend to the revoloution" one guy said to the other. The other guy said "the revolution was sold".

  15. I def agree w this being the "everyday struggle," and for a while I was having a hard time w it. But w time, experiences and events, and of course a few nice "trips" along the way lol I just learned to prioritize what important and whats not. Whenever i find myself fretting about money or any sort of material possesion, which doesnt happen very often mind you, I remind myself that it is just that , material, and at the end of the day it doesnt make you who u are. For anyone whos seen Fight Club , "You are not the contents of your wallets". And its true! Prioritizing whats important in your life is key, just keep on loving, living, and being the best person you can be and happiness, and ironically enough even money, will find its way to you.

but still there is no creature that shares the mind of homo sapiens. so i don't know why something as unique as human consciousness would be lumped in with everything else.

but when you realise that it is just a ride, does that mean that you no longer have to eat? no, you still have to eat, because there is still an attachment to the physical. in the same way that there is a need to balance our dietary needs, there is also a need to balance the rest of the aspects of our humanity. saying that everything is just a ride diminishes our humanity.

"The understanding which alone gives value to knowledge is the understanding that, when we employ the formula "I am, therefore I can, therefore I will," the "I AM" with which the series starts is a being who, so to speak, has his head in heaven and his feet upon the earth, a perfect unity, and with a range of ideas far transcending the little ideas which are limited by the requirements of a day or an hour. On the other hand, the requirements of the day and the hour are real while they last, and since the manifested life can be lived only in the moment that now is, whether it be to-day or ten thousand years hence, our need is to harmonise the life of expression with the life of purpose, and by realising in ourselves the source of the highest purposes to realise also the life of the fullest expression."

There is no creature other than the ant which shares the mind of the ant, either. There is no creature other than me which shares the mind of me. Nothing is like anything else. So there is no worry when lumping everything together; always wrong :)

Saying it's a ride doesn't mean you should stick your arms out of the vehicle. Are you one of those people who jumps off bridges on acid because you think you can fly? No, and neither do people who see this ride for what it is. Pain, pleasure, hunger, love, joy, all these things are just as real even though its a ride. You are missing the point.

Like the private moralizings of Desos?

Only if you define humanity to be somehow incompatible with an experience of existence which is composed of fractal levels of itself. What is this humanity that is so fragile that it is diminished when we say this is a ride? Do we not still buckle our seatbelts and smile even wider? You are confused about this analogy, you are too caught up with the "should", you think that unless we behave along certain parameters then our existence is bankrupt. But existence comes first. Desos' theories on should comes second.
